I always loved snow globes as a child and this craft brings back those fun memories of watching the snow shake around but with a Winter Wonderland in a Mason jar. This is a simple but fun way to display those miniature Christmas village trees.
I found mine at the dollar store so it doesnโt get any better than that. You can also find artificial snow at the dollar store and Epsom salts are even cheaper at the grocery store depending on what you choose to use. I bought a large pack of mason jars at Wal-Mart which was cheaper than most places. I always say too though to save jars from salsa and sauces because they are great for crafts like this.
Kids love making crafts this time of year too. This Winter Wonderland is easy to make and would be perfect to do together. They will probably need some help with the hot glue gun but other than that, they will love it.
Supplies:
Miniature Christmas village trees
Artificial snow or Epsom salt
Christmas fabric, ribbon or jute- optional for extra decoration
Take the lid of the jar and glue the miniature village trees on the inside of the lid. You could also use the miniature village people as well depending on what look you want.
Set it aside and let it dry completely.
Pour in the artificial snow or Epsom salt into the jar depending on how much you want. The Epsom salt of course is much easier to work with and doesnโt cause as much of a mess but both work great.
Screw the lid back on the jar once the glue has dried. Then take a look and see if you are needing more or less of the snow.
To add more decoration, be as creative as you would like. One option is tying ribbon or jute around the lid or bottom of the jar.
You could also cut a small square of Christmas fabric and pull it up around the bottom of the jar and wrap ribbon or jute around it to keep it in place.
I also suggest making several of these jars to place together in varying heights. A really pretty way to display them would be to place them on a cut piece of a tree trunk. You can buy these wooden tree trunk sections at most craft stores. Then place stringed lights in the middle of several jars and watch the jars light up.
Enjoy your Winter Wonderland scene and most importantly enjoy the little things this Christmas.
