One thing that makes me absolutely happy (besides walking into my craft room) is when I can take an art supply, for example, and find a brand new way to use it. I feel like I have just stretched my buck even further. Well that’s exactly what I did for the July monthly devotional kit from Illustrated Faith. As soon as I saw the theme, I knew gelatos were in my near future but using them in a new and fun way.
Which then brings me to this tutorial today showing you how to use them but with a paintbrush and water technique. Plus keep reading for a little surprise at the end of something new. Call it a BONUS if you will.ย
But first you’re asking, “What is this new kit?”. Every month Illustrated Faith launches a new Bible journaling kit with a 2-week devotional and numerous supplies. This month’s is entitled “I Am” and is full of so many nuggets of wisdom that we all can use at any season in our lives.
In the image above is what you will find included in the kit. I’m sharing an unboxing video on my YouTube channel so you can see everything up close and in more detail there so be sure to check that out as well.
The floral theme for this month has me totally crushing and overjoyed to work in my Bible. Who is with me on this whole floral takeover?!
But now that we have our kit and we’re ready to go, it’s time for you to learn a new technique for using gelatos. You may remember a technique I showed you before that involves using a damp cloth or baby wipe. You can check out that post HERE if you are interested.
This technique today is all about using a paintbrush and water. You are going to be able to achieve several different looks this way depending how you use the paintbrush and how much water is applied. Be sure to check out my latest video below to see me working in my journaling Bible with the whole step-by-step process.
In case you couldn’t tell in the video, my excitement for this kit is over the top for sure. Not only am I absolutely head over heels in love with the florals, but the devotional is speaking straight to my heart. It truly is as if the designer was listening in on my prayers and reading my journal.
Below are more up close pictures of my journaling entry from Day 1 of the devotional entitled “Fearless.” I focused on “fasting fear”. When those thoughts of fear and doubt try to creep their way in, I do my best to rebuke them immediately and fast any negative thinking.
But wait…There’s more. I promised you a little bonus surprise and that’s exactly what you are going to get right now! Shanna Noel, the creator and founder of Illustrated Faith, has now designed her very own line of greeting cards. They are now available starting TODAY to order!
Above are just a few of the cards to give you an idea of the style and design. I show them in more detail in the video above.
I think handwritten cards is such a lost heart, (which I actually write about HERE) so why not start again and really make someone’s day. Their face will light up with some colorful happy mail instead of a nasty ol’ bill in their mailbox.
Make sure to head over and order your cards to do just that for someone special. Today is the first day they are available. Why not be one of the first ones to get your hands on them? You won’t regret it. The quality is tremendous!
Let me know if you will be grabbing a kit and please share your entries with me. I would love to see them and get more inspiration on ways to use these florals. Plus have fun trying out your gelatos with this techinque.
AND…Don’t forget your kit here!!
