First I just have to say how adorable this baby boy of mine is. So let’s just take a moment to stop and admire that adorable face. Okay sorry, not sorry, for that Mom moment. When I found out my dream of becoming a Mommy was happening, I knew I had to make some adorable outfits for my baby. What’s the best way to do so? Using my Cricut Explore Air 2 of course.

They have just introduced their new patterned iron on that I am obsessed with. You don’t have to layer the vinyl to get different designs or colors. The patterns give so much dimension now. Below is the Nature Walk Basics Patterned Iron-On Sampler. You get 3- 12” x 17” sheets in each pack. I love that it comes with 3 different designs that are also coordinating so you can mix and match with different projects and still have everything match. I can’t wait to use this same patterned iron-on to add designs to my son’s baby bag.

Another sampler pack I can’t wait to try is the Natalie Malan® Aquamarine Patterned Iron-On Sampler. The vibrant mix of blues and greens is so pretty for summer. This set would be great for me to use to personalize my beach bag and organizing pouches. I’m even thinking of using it to monogram my beach towel or one for my son. You can tell where my mind is right now. 😉

And to make it even easier, you have to try using their EasyPress and EasyPress mat. The EasyPress will give you professional iron-on results in less than 60 seconds. What a lifesaver! Keep reading to see below how to use it exactly.

Let’s get started making these coordinating shirts so your little guy can be dressed just as adorable and matching you just in time for Mother’s Day too. Click HERE for the design in Cricut Design Space that is all ready to go. You can change any wording if you like and also change the size of the lettering depending on your own shirt size. I made my baby onesie on a newborn onesie and my shirt is size small if that helps for text sizing.

You will cut out the patterned iron-on using the Cricut Explore Air 2 and a standard grip adhesive cutting mat. Be sure to mirror your images before cutting due to being iron-on. Also place the patterned side or shiny side down on the mat with the white backing showing. Remove from the mat and weed the vinyl to remove the negative vinyl you don’t need. (The tool set makes this so much easier too. Especially the weeder.)

Now we are ready to apply the iron-on to both shirts. That’s where the fun just keeps getting better because we are going to use the EasyPress. Think of it as a square shaped iron that you can control the specific heat setting and also a timer for perfect results every time. The EasyPress comes with a chart that shows what settings to use for temperature and length of time depending on the specific iron-on you use. (Cricut also has a more detailed chart online.)

  • Place your shirts on the EasyPress Mat. The mat is perfect to handle the heat and also gives a cushion and barrier from the surface you are working on. Cricut really has thought of everything haven’t they?
  • Enter your settings on the EasyPress and then before you start the time, heat the area of the shirt you are applying iron-on.
  • Place your iron-on design on the shirt with the clear lining facing up.
  • Press the EasyPress directly on top of the design and start the timer applying low pressure.
  • Once finished, it will beep letting you know you can remove it.
  • Place your EasyPress back on its base to avoid ruining your workspace.
  • Then remove the plastic lining once cooled to see your design.
  • If you notice the edges are needing a little more heat, just reset your settings and press again.

And now all you need to do is dress that precious baby in their onesie, and you have the perfect coordinating outfit for any outing, just lounging around the house, and especially for Mother’s Day. I can’t wait to wear ours for Mother’s Day. What a special time and memories we will make thanks to Cricut.
