I have been anticipating this day for weeks now and in prayer that so many people are going to be so blessed by this huge project of the Illustrating Bible created by Shanna Noel. Shanna is the founder of Illustrated Faith and has brought this community yet another big blessing with this Bible. I truly can say confidently that this Bible is going to be a total game changer for the Bible journaling community.

Why, you ask? Well let me just tell you all about this beauty, and it will not take you long to figure out exactly what I mean. Because I think it’s so much more fun to sit and chat with y’all and because so many of us are visual learners, I created a YouTube video with a flip-through of the Bible showing off all its amazing features. You will also find a video showing how the Bible pages handle using watercolors. I will be sharing more videos soon showing other art mediums so please leave any suggestions in the comments below. (You can also find lots more pictures and details below so no worries if you would rather check those out.)

Let’s just start with this beautiful leather cover in a rose gold finish with a gold foiled title. Rose gold and foil? That’s all I needed to hear. Basically love at first sight.

Your Illustrating Bible will come in this sturdy and very durable keepsake box that you can use to store your Bible when needed or even use to hold some art supplies. The cardboard inserts seen below in the image can be removed to allow space for your Bible to grow and still be able to store it with those extra tabs or bulk from entries.

Now let’s not miss that one feature that you probably noticed right away. The spiral binding… I’m pretty sure the confetti poppers just went off again (or at least in my head 😉 ). No more awkward stamping or painting because you can’t get your Bible to lay just right. It will always lay flat making it even easier to work in. The spiral binding is also going to make it easy to add extra tip-ins or folders, etc. directly into the binding. I can’t wait to share more of that later.

The inside cover is a suede fabric in a beautiful shade of blue with white lettering and small crosses.

All of the hand lettering details throughout just have my heart so happy. I love the hand lettered style of the chapter title pages in such a bold black. The pages are also 75% thicker than most normal journaling Bibles which is going to be a tremendous help to reduce any bleed through. Plus since the pages are sturdier, you can add more die-cuts, paper clips, etc. to the pages without feeling like you are weighing them down too much.

Now these margins are huge! They are actually 3 3/4″ wide giving plenty of blank space for journaling, note taking, and just about anything your heart desires. Below is a reference for size showing my hand actually fitting inside that margin.

I created this entry using my son’s ultrasound picture that fit perfectly in the margin without covering the scripture at all. Plus I love the background layer of watercolors that didn’t even bleed through at all. I used the Illustrated Faith watercolor set that also happens to be 50% off when I posted this.

I tried an entry as well using the Illustrated Faith acrylic paint set and couldn’t have been happier. These bright pops of color are gorgeous. The page held the color and paint so well without ripping or weighing it down. I will have a video coming soon talking all about acrylic paints in this Bible so stay tuned for that too.

The margins for the illustrating bible do look like they’re a good size but that text looks tiny for the bible passages and wouldn’t it be too big & heavy to be portable?

The margins are incredible leaving so much space for journaling cards, written notes, etc. without covering the text.

The text is an 8 point font size. For me the font is just fine. If the font was a lot larger, then the Bible would be even thicker and possibly too much.

I would say that this Bible for me is going to be one that I have at home to journal in for devotionals, series, and on-going projects like Revival Camp for example. I still plan to use a standard size journaling Bible for traveling and on the go.

I hope this helps! Keep the questions coming if you think of anything else. Someone may be wondering the same things too.
