We are officially starting the most fun and exciting season of the year with one holiday after another. Let’s kick these next few months of partying off with a bang. Cue the confetti! We shall begin with Halloween, adorable DIY Halloween costumes, and DIY Halloween crafts. I say we shall declare this year a handmade Halloween starting with my Halloween party candy table using Cricut Maker.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

If you have ever wanted to throw a party that looked like something right out of a magazine but didn’t have the time to spend making every last detail perfect, then you have come to the right place. The Cricut Maker is here to make all those dreams come true. I recently shared 10 things I love about my Cricut Maker. Check out that post to see more goodness of all this incredible machine can do.

10 Things I Love about My Cricut Maker

The Maker can cut hundreds of materials from chipboard to fabric to vinyl. I can’t wait to show you these specific ones today too. It even has a rotary blade that glides through fabric so easily. If you love to sew or what to learn more skills, you will find a huge library of sewing patterns in Cricut’s Design Space to really help out.

10 Things I Love about My Cricut Maker

So let’s get this party started and let me show you how to create your own candy table that every kid of any age will enjoy. A candy table isn’t complete without lots of candy right? This canvas candy bag is my absolute favorite. My 2nd favorite thing is the “Child Candy Tax” rule especially when you get those peanut butter cups.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

I made this bag using everyday iron-on vinyl and fusible fabric. Yes, the maker even cuts fabric. How cool is that? You can click HERE to go straight to Design Space and find the project there. Cut out your materials first. I used the fine point blade for the vinyl and the rotary blade for the fabric.

The font I chose for the everyday iron-on has some more intricate cuts which is why I love weeding it with the BrightPad. No more straining my eyes. And trust me when I say this is a lifesaver because there’s nothing worst than weeding the wrong part of your cut and having to redo it. (Not that I know from personal experience or anything. 😉 )

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

The picture below is my everyday iron-on vinyl placed on top of the BrightPad. You can see the cut lines so easily making it a breeze to weed.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

I placed my cuts on the canvas bag and then used my brand new EasyPress 2 to iron them on. Another lifesaver! You can apply your materials in less than 1-2 minutes. No more elbow grease with the iron to get vinyl to actually adhere.

And while I’m talking about the new EasyPress 2, check out my recent post talking more about its features. I share a tutorial for making this embroidery hoop decor for my son’s nursery.

Nursery Embroidery Hoop Decor Made in 10 Minutes with the Cricut EasyPress 2

Now for that “boo-tiful” centerpiece. (See what I did there. I just crack myself up sometimes. 😉 ) That “boo” decoration is made out of chipboard. Yes, the Maker can cut chipboard. Click HERE to get the project in Design Space now.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

Place the chipboard on the StrongGrip (purple) mat and tape it down using masking tape. This really helps to make sure the chipboard doesn’t move during the cut and mess up. You can easily remove the masking tape once it’s done.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

You will use the knife blade to cut chipboard. *Be prepared to wait for the Maker to cut the chipboard as it makes numerous passes to really make sure it has been cut through completely.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

After it finished cutting, I painted it navy blue and hot glued a small dowel rod to the back. Place a piece of styrofoam in the bottom of the canvas bag and then the dowel rod will stand easily inside the styrofoam. (This would also be cute to cut one for a wreath.)

I wanted kids to have a way to take some candy with them as they leave the party as a sort of party favor which is where these miniature gift bags come in handy. Cut your gift bags out HERE in Design Space.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

I used the Maker scoring wheel to make it even easier to fold the cardstock to put these together. The scoring wheel gives an extra-deep score line.

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

I folded on the score lines and used an adhesive runner to attach the bottoms and sides. For the pumpkins, I used Cricut’s cardstock and deluxe paper. For the word “boo” on the pumpkins, I used the Cricut pens and the Maker to write it out for me. Adhere the pumpkins to the front of the bags and tie bakers twine through the holes for the handles.

The candy corn decorations are a craft I made several years ago. You can find the full tutorial HERE.

Now you just need to add some candy and a few pumpkins and you are all set for a fun Halloween party candy table. Now let’s all give a round of applause to the Maker for doing just about anything I need it to for any occasion.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Host an Easter party like none other with this no-mess Easter egg decorating party tablescape that will leave you with minimal clean-up and maximum fun.

A HUGE thank you to Dayspring for sponsoring this post and encouraging all of us to pursue and strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ. Some of the links below are “affiliate links.” This means if you click a link and purchase an item, I will receive a small affiliate commission that helps me to be able to continue with this blog and hopefully continue to inspire you as well.

You may have been perusing through Pinterest lately seeing all the fabulous party ideas and tablescapes for Easter, but then think to yourself the work is just not worth it. Plus you don’t want to even deal with the mess and craziness of trying to dye Easter eggs with your kids and all their friends. Can you imagine the splashes and stains of food coloring that will end up on your table and floor ruining everything?

Now wait for it…

Imagine Supergirl flying in with her gorgeous red cape and those stunning red boots to say she has saved the day (and your furniture and sanity for that matter.) I am certainly no Supergirl, but I do have the perfect solution so you can still enjoy some Easter traditions with your children, friends, ladies church group, etc. How about a… No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape!!

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

There is absolutely no reason why you can’t have some fun without the stress. You will definitely want to check out these ideas and tricks to pull off the same beautiful party tablescapes and Easter egg ideas you just saw on Pinterest but without all the fuss.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Don’t get me wrong when I talk about messy egg decorating ideas. I love them and can’t wait to try several that I found. But not necessarily with ten 5 year olds running around my house. Your biggest lifesaver here is going to be using craft decorating eggs. You don’t have to worry about the eggs stinking and having to throw them out. You can even reuse them every year.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Now what are eggs without decorations except plain, white eggs? I personally love and recommend the Illustrated Faith products because you just can’t find anything like theirs. I want others to remember even though we have fun with Easter egg hunts, there is a great reason to this celebration. Their stuff reminds us all of that! (*Don’t forget to use the coupon code, 25FORYOU, for any Illustrated Faith items to get 25% off + FREE SHIPPING!)

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

They have cross stickers, washi tape with scripture and encouraging quotes, etc. Plus what you don’t use on the eggs can be used later in your journaling Bible and that is never a bad thing. *Check out this Praise and Gratitude Journal I recently started showing you more ways to use any leftover supplies from this party. (See the image below.)

Gratitude and Praise Journal Using Illustrated Faith

Now also be sure to add in some coloring pencils, gelatos, markers, etc. for any doodling.

Okay, so you have all your supplies together…

But how do we get that “Pinterest perfect” look for our tablescape. It all starts with a few basic supplies. I bought white kraft paper to use for my tablecloth. After all this is an “artsy” party so why not keep it simple. I used this bright striped table runner I already had to add some color and dimension to the plain white paper.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Supplies are done, so now you need containers to keep them organized and keep the mess away. Thinking outside the box is what normally makes those Pinterest gems so popular, so that’s what we will do. Dayspring has a beautiful collection of dishes from their Daily Grace collection that I absolutely fell in love with that works perfect for this type of party. And starting today, they are up to 65% off for a limited time(along with other Spring Decor items) which is incredible and just in time for Easter. You definitely can’t pass up a deal like this.

I have shared sneak peeks of these goodies on my Instagram stories so follow me there to see things first. I’m ecstatic the time has come to share it all with you.

Just because a platter or serving dish is traditionally used for one purpose does not mean you can’t use it in a different and beautiful way. I placed several of their dishes on one side of my table to hold all the different supplies.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Mostly I love how encouraging each dish is with a little phrase for your guests to meditate on while decorating their eggs. You can’t find these types of dishes in stores and most definitely not at these prices. I used the Tall Serving Bowl to hold the eggs because you can’t have an egg decorating party without the eggs. The chalkboard banner decal made into the bowl is perfect for labeling its contents. *A chalk marker is much easier to use than just a piece of chalk too.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

I placed different sets of the Illustrated Faith stickers in this “Live a Grateful Life” Divided Serving Dish to keep them sorted and organized. I love how each slot has a different encouraging phrase too.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

I used a couple of these “Open Your Heart” bowls to hold different sizes and designs of washi tape that make it really easy to add color to the eggs. That extra little design on the outside is still simple but so cute.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Now what’s a party without food? Not much of one that’s for certain. Save yourself the mess of cleaning up flour and sugar and sprinkles galore in your kitchen by picking up a few appetizers and desserts at your local bakery or market. You will thank yourself later. Trust me. I did use more of the Daily Grace Collection from Dayspring for serving the snacks.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

The “Grateful for All God Gives” Platter below is 16″ long making it perfect to serve a large amount of food and different variety too. I placed a variety of cookies leaving the banner in the middle to peek through.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Perhaps my most favorite piece from this collection is the “A Grateful Life is Blessed” Cake Pedestal. This is one that I will be able to use over and over and over. I just love it and may even use it for decorating my kitchen table as a centerpiece. So classic!

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

With all this sweet, I thought we might need to balance things out with a little salty. These macadamia nuts are delicious but even better served in the “Grace for Today” Sugar/Candy Bowl with that simple little reminder. Throughout the table you will also see this chalkboard labeled “Open Your Heart” Place Cards that come in a set of 4. I used them for not only labeling different food dishes but also to label the different supplies. These are so versatile and not only can be used for place cards.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

We have to have a cool drink to wash all these goodies down with which brings me to another one of my favorite pieces which is this “Great God, Grateful Heart” Pitcher. It also has the chalkboard decal that makes it easy for guest to know exactly what’s inside. Place some paper straws in a cute cup in front, and you are all set.

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Above the table I added a colorful and simple banner to add an extra pop of color and just absolutely fell in love with it!

No-Mess Easter Egg Decorating Party Tablescape

Now we just need to get to the fun part which is the egg decorating! Below are a few examples to hopefully give you some inspiration when decorating your own. I used the stickers, washi tape, gelatos, markers, etc. and just love how colorful they are. Save your empty egg cartons as well and cut them in half for guests to use to take their eggs home with them. These are perfect to use to display your eggs too.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

You do not have to be perfect or SuperMom to plan a party. Check out 3 myths that prevent planning a party and learn to overcome them now.

Now who doesn’t love and enjoy a good party! I personally love to plan for a special event, DIY my decorations, and enjoy seeing the guest of honor enjoy themself after all the hard work.

For others though, this may be a completely different scenario. Many people do not plan a party because they are terrified that it will be a complete flop. Others just don’t even know where to get started.

Today I’m here to change your mind on this and bring to light several myths that prevent planning a party. If you relate to any of these, stick around because I have the solution to all your stress. Plus there is a giveaway just for y’all below too!

3 Myths that Prevent Planning a Party

#1. The party has to be PERFECT.

We all deal with trying to reach perfection in different areas of our lives. The truth is that attaining perfection is simply impossible. None of your guests are expecting a perfect party. You are probably your biggest critic anyways.

You don’t want to wait til the last minute to get started. Take some steps to prepare and plan ahead. The party will then be as smooth as possible. It certainly doesn’t have to be perfect.

#2. The party must look just like the ones I see on Pinterest.

Don’t compare yourself to others. It will only end up in defeat and discouragement. Some of the pictures we all see on Pinterest just aren’t realistic for everyone. Some of the parties are even planned by professionals with an outstanding budget to work with.

Use the ideas you see on Pinterest and other places as inspiration. Then create the party that fits your event, budget, and schedule the best for you. My parties always consist of DIY decorations. I find a lot of fun in making them too.

Totally Radical 80s Themed Party

#3. The party will cost a TON of money.

Parties can cost a ton of money if you let them. That is no secret. The great news is that parties don’t have to break the bank. You can find so many ideas on Pinterest and online for ways to DIY your own decorations and food.

But like I said before, don’t get overwhelmed with Pinterest. Your party doesn’t have to be as extravagant as some you may find. Use certain elements as ideas and then make your own.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

You can also get ideas from decorations you may see in a local party store. Chances are you can make the exact same thing with little effort for much less the cost.

And now drum roll…

Simple Taco Bar Party Ideas

Get ready for a fiesta with these taco bar party ideas any day of the year!

Wherever you may live, schools are either out already or almost out. Thank goodness, right? Well I have a fun idea for you and your family to celebrate with the kids with these Taco Bar Party Ideas.

Taco Bar Party Ideas

The great part is that if your kids are having their friends over on the last day, tacos are the perfect dinner solution. Your kids will also love building their own tacos with all the different toppings.

Taco Bar Party Ideas

I usually just start with an empty table and start building from there with a tablecloth or no tablecloth depending on how I feel. For this party I decided on no tablecloth and to keep it simple. With the temps warming up, I moved it outdoors on our back porch for a little more fun.

For my taco bar I included all the essentials:

  • Meat of choice
  • Tortilla shells
  • Cheese, shredded
  • Lettuce, shredded
  • Tomatoes, diced
  • Refried beans
  • Mexican Rice
  • Salsa*
  • Guacamole
  • Sour cream
  • Limes, sliced
  • Cilantro
  • Tortilla chips

Taco Bar Party Ideas

*I have a homemade restaurant style salsa recipe that I shared on the blog recently that you should definitely try. It’s so easy to make and has a special ingredient that really takes it over the top.

Taco Bar Party Ideas

I start placing all of my ingredients into different serving dishes and then place them on the table moving things around until I’m happy with the results. To label each item (even though we know what everything is, it’s just more fun), you could also place chalkboard stickers on the table beside each dish and then write with a chalk marker what each one is.

Taco Bar Party Ideas

Taco Bar Party Ideas

Be sure to add different heights on your table as well for not only looks but also to make it easier when guests are trying to reach for all the deliciousness.

Taco Bar Party Ideas

To really add a pop of color, try making sombrero decorations made from terra cotta pots and pom poms or even some tissue paper banners that are perfect for a fiesta. You can find them here where I shared my Cinco de Mayo Party: Decorations and Recipes. I hung some of the tissue paper banners around the table for some extra color.

Taco Bar Party Ideas

And if that isn’t enough goodness, the great news about a taco bar is that you can usually just buy everything you already need premade to make your life so much simpler and just place it in serving trays if you are pressed for time.

And that’s all there is to it. This is also a perfect idea for a dinner party or game night with the family.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Use these baby shower decoration ideas to host the perfect celebration for the special parents. Plus you can change them easily to make them appropriate for girls too.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Let me first start out by saying that today’s post is an extra special one for several reasons. Shall we begin?

1.) My friend Lauren from The Thinking Closet is expecting a beautiful, little girl! How exciting and Yay for her and her husband (who also happens to have the same name as my husband so he must be a good man).

2.) Several of us fellow bloggers who just adore Lauren have decided to throw her a virtual baby shower. I think this is the most brilliant idea since sliced bread. We may not all live close but we can still show her our love and how much we care. Plus it gives all of you an invitation to attend as well. This is probably the world’s largest baby shower ever. (We should win a world record or at least something.)

3.) And probably the best reason of all is that even though these decorations are blue and yes, I know Lauren is having a girl, you can easily change everything to shades of pink and switch out the bow ties for hair bows. No one would ever know the difference.

The reason everything is blue is because my sister-in-law gave birth to the most precious little boy at the end of last year. My mother-in-love and I hosted a “Little Man Baby Shower” for her sweet family. I have been wanting to share details of this celebration and this just happens to be the perfect way to do so. You just have to use your imagination and think pink! Sorry Lauren! I still love you though. I couldn’t go without sharing a picture of him too.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Welcome to my home and Come on in for a tour of this baby shower and be sure to check out below how others are celebrating this birth with food ideas, game ideas, more decorations, free printables, and more. It is definitely the ultimate baby shower.

When guests first arrive, I set up a table where guests could sign the “guest book” or should I say “guest letter.” I got a wooden letter from Michaels and spray painted it white so that it would match the room décor no matter what she used or changed it to later. Sharpie pens and markers were available for guests to sign their name and leave a little message for either Mom or Little Man.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Also on the table was a basket of party favors for guests to pick up when leaving. I got this idea from Pinterest and know it has been done a bunch of times in the past so I can’t take credit for it. We drizzled buttered popcorn with blue candy melt and milk chocolate and then filled clear treat bags with it. I sealed them with washi tape and added a tag that read, “Ready to Pop!” You can also print your FREE printable tags HERE.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Decorations don’t have to be complex either. Think simple but still elegant and classy. I placed a tablecloth and then just added a bowtie banner across the front. I actually made these bowties that are used throughout the party décor from a bow pattern I got in a paper kit from Target a long time ago. Go to Pinterest and search for a bow pattern, and I’m sure you will find something that you can use too. The circle banner was made using a circle punch and actually just sewing it together on my sewing machine.

Add a chalkboard sign which I also made from an old frame I picked up at a yard sale and spray painted the glass with chalkboard paint. I use this board for all sorts of parties and it only cost me pennies. These are the best projects.

Hanging above the entryway table and in the living room were tissue pom poms that I also made. These are so simple and inexpensive to make but look absolutely gorgeous. Darling Doodles has an awesome tutorial to help you make in any size or shape you want. She has tons of pictures to explain the whole process too which makes it even easier.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Now as guests make their way into the living room, they found a gift table set up in the middle of the floor and more tissue pom poms hanging from the ceiling.

As you make your way down the hallway into the kitchen, I hung a flag pendant banner that had pictures of the Mom’s baby bump as it grew over the months. It was fun to see the whole process and miracle.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

After you have mingled for a little bit, it’s definitely time to dig in. For the food table which is always the main gathering area at any party, I wanted it to look spectacular and not just like food had been thrown out and ready for us to devour. I placed a tablecloth and then hung more of the tissue pom poms on the corners. On top of the table to name the dishes, I used chalkboard flag stickers and wrote each dish on the tag using a chalkboard marker.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Keep your dishes simple too. We used clear crystal and silver. No need to go out and buy a bunch of stuff when you can use beautifully what you already have.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Now for my most favorite part: Drumroll please!!! The hanging centerpiece over the tablescape. I made more tissue pom poms and bought some of the round tissue honeycombs to give a little dimension. I tied clear fishing wire to the ends of each one and then hung them on the ceiling at different heights. You will definitely need someone to help you look while you are hanging to get them placed where you can see them all. Or you might have superhero abilities. If you do, then come over to my house and give me a hand.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Don’t forget all these baby shower decoration ideas can easily be done for a girl shower by just switching the colors. The bow ties can also easily be seen and used as hair bows. It is just perfect and so versatile which makes this even better if someone is having boy and girl twins.

Baby Shower Decoration Ideas

Now you are probably thinking what about the games and recipes? Don’t worry. I have got you covered. Many other talented and amazing bloggers have some awesome ideas just waiting for you. Outdoor Mother's Day Brunch

Plan a beautiful Outdoor Mother’s Day Brunch for the special mother in your life and make her feel special!

Easter has already passed (which seemed to come unusually early this year) which means Mother’s Day isn’t far behind. Why not make your mother feel special this year or even your group of girlfriends who are mothers with an outdoor Mother’s Day brunch to celebrate them?

Hosting your own brunch or party doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming. I was able to put this tablescape and recipes together in about 30 minutes. The secret is to decorate while the food is cooking to make the best use of your time.

OUTDOOR MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH

Outdoor Mother's Day Brunch

Let’s get this celebration outside in the fresh air and sunlight. That will change the entire atmosphere getting all the Moms to just relax and enjoy the fresh sunshine against their skin.

For my dishes, I used the crystal cut line from Chinet. It is absolutely gorgeous with the appearance of expensive fine china, but is so much easier to clean up when all you have to do is toss it. Plus you don’t have to worry about any of your grandmother’s fine china getting broken that you have had for years.

Outdoor Mother's Day Brunch

For brunch, I usually try to keep the food pretty simple but still delicious with finger foods and then there is no need for cutlery. For the napkins, I picked up a pack of cloth napkins from The Pioneer Woman that I spread throughout the table for décor. You guests could then pick them up once everyone starts eating. There is just something special about a cloth napkin in my opinion that makes it feel extra special.

For the food, I put together several finger food items for a little sweet and a little salty. When you think brunch, don’t worry about supplying a ton of food. You just need to serve some light refreshments so everyone can get together and enjoy themselves.

I took 2 cake plates and stacked mini powdered and chocolate donuts on them. I think it’s just adorable like a donut cake.

Outdoor Mother's Day Brunch

I also prepared a cheese and cracker platter using cream cheese spread topped with a pepper jelly. I then laid an assortment of entertainment crackers around the plate. And trust me this combination of cream cheese and pepper jelly is absolutely delicious.

Outdoor Mother's Day Brunch

The last recipe is one that has always been a favorite of mine. And that would be SAUSAGE BALLS. They are the perfect party good. I recently found a new twist on these little balls of goodness from my friend Jessica at Fantabulosity. She combined the sausage with crumbled Cheeze-It Grooves in the hot and spicy flavor. Those are also my favorite snack food which made this even better.

Outdoor Mother's Day Brunch

(If you don’t like spicy foods, they also have them in a variety of flavors to choose from.)

Add a few fresh flowers for extra décor and there you have it! That’s really all there is to it. Invite those special Moms in your lives over and shower them with goodness.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar…I really have to control myself when I even think about ice cream must less an ice cream party on top of it. It is definitely my most favorite thing EVER!

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

Why not take ice cream to whole other level with a banana split? And yes, even complete with a cherry on top! This party bar was a blast to plan and even more fun to enjoy. This is definitely the perfect party to welcome rising temps and warm sunshine with a cool treat for your kids and neighbors.

BANANA SPLIT ICE CREAM PARTY BAR

I always start with a blank canvas really when I’m planning a party tablescape and work my way from the foundation which usually starts with a tablecloth. Let me first say that with party decorations, always check around your house to see what you have first before going shopping. You will be amazed at how much you already have at home that is just as perfect.

For my white cloth tablecloth, I folded 2 curtain panels and placed them on the table. I actually bought these from Ikea when I went to college for my apartment and haven’t used them since then.

To add a little “Ice Cream Parlor” flair, I folded sheets of tissue paper in different colors and then rounded the ends attaching them to the front of the table with tape.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

Hanging at the back of the table on the porch railing is a string of patio lights with aqua ornamental balls for the lights. I found these in the Target dollar spot and fell in love. The aqua is an extra pop of color but also perfect to use this summer for cook-outs. You can see them hanging in the background behind all the colorful table decorations.

For the main centerpiece, I made my own gigantic ice cream sundae. The ice cream cup is a wired waste basket with tissue pompoms placed inside. I blew up a red balloon just a little to resemble the cherry. For the stem, I cut a black and white polka dotted paper straw in half and taped it to the back of the balloon for the stem. I cut small pieces of colored paper and added them on top of the pompoms for the sprinkles. For more height, I placed it on top of a plain white cake stand that also came from Target.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

I added another banana split decoration using smaller tissue pompoms and a decorative metal canister that once again came from Target. To add a little height, I placed it on top of a small metal pail that I turned upside down.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

I used another canister and pail to hold the bananas on the opposite side. Behind the bananas is a chalkboard sign that I made using an old picture frame from a yard sale with chalkboard spray paint. What’s an ice cream party without singing “I scream, You scream, We all scream for ice cream.”

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

On each side of the table were paper loaf pans and paper bowls for guests to choose from along with the ice cream that I placed in a metal bucket. Place a clear plastic bag inside the bucket with ice to keep the ice cream from melting as fast. The bag also keeps any melted ice from leaking onto the table.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

In the center of the table is the most fun part. All those delicious toppings. I found these adorable white canisters with miniature spoons at Michaels and knew they would be perfect for sprinkles. You can’t have a banana split without a cherry on top so don’t forgot those either.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

Another metal bucket with a plastic bag same as the ice cream held the chocolate, strawberry, and caramel syrup along with the whipped cream. All of this was then placed on a sheet of scrapbook paper which helped to just add some more color to the tablecloth.

Banana Split Ice Cream Party Bar

As much as I love paper straws, I am starting to find that these decorative wooden utensils are a new favorite of mine. You can find them in so many different colors and designs lately. I knew these from Michaels would be perfect and “delish” of course.

This all came about when I started noticing how many scrap pieces of paper I would have lying around and in my purse whenever I was planning a party or having guests over. I would go from spot to spot in my house trying to find one specific To-Do list. Pure chaos?

I am always organized in every other area of my life for the most part so why not with this too? I told myself then that there has to be a better way of doing things than how I’m doing it now. That’s when I decided I would make my own party planning checklist that would allow me to keep everything in one place.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

March in our house means it’s time for the Big College Basketball Tournament. We are a sports household that loves watching all kinds of sports. The Big Tournament also just gives us an excuse to have a party, invite friends and family to watch with us, and eat lots of delicious food. I have all the detailed plans for a slam dunk basketball party to help you out.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Why don’t you come on over and let’s get our brackets filled out and ready to go together?

Slam Dunk Basketball Party

In order to throw a good ol’ party, you need some cute decorations, delicious food, scrumptious sweets, and thirst-quenching Coca-Cola.

The Decor

I begin every party with a blank slate of a table and blank wall or backdrop to get me started. To add some color to what would just be a blank, white wall, I created my very own backboard and hoop. What is a basketball party without a huge basketball goal?

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

For the backboard I used a white foam board and placed black electrical tape to outline the edges as well to make the rectangle above the goal. I then just hung it on the wall above the table using strong double sided tape.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

I wanted to add just a little extra color and touch of “party” so I made a flag pendant with orange scrapbook paper and bakers twine to hang across the backboard. I used miniature clothes pins to hang the paper. It’s just an extra little touch.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

For the hoop, I loved the idea of having it hang freely over the top of the table. I used an embroidery hoop and painted it with orange acrylic paint using a foam brush.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

After it dried, I used a hot glue gun to attach a white basketball net to the inside of the hoop. (You can find these nets at your local sports store.) I found the easiest way to attach the net was to first attach it with mini clothespins until you have it spaced correctly and then use a hot glue gun.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

I wrapped fishing wire around the hoop in different spots and then attached the wire to the ceiling. I love how the fishing wire is practically invisible making it appear as though it is floating. *When hanging the hoop by the fishing wire, be sure that your hoop is lined up with your backboard and not hanging to high or low.

Under the hoop on the table, I sat a basketball on top of a clear glass vase. We are talking a slam dunk here?! Right?

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

On the table, I wanted the appearance of the actual basketball court so of course, I just make my own. And you can too. It’s much easier than it may look.

I used 2 white foam boards and covered them in an oak wood grain contact paper that I ordered online. You could also use scrapbook paper that has a wood design.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

I then used electrical tape to outline the court and mark the appropriate lines.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Using alpha letters, I spelled out “Big College Tournament” on one side of the court.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Under the foam boards, I placed an orange tablecloth and draped orange and white crepe paper on the front of the table because in my opinion, “What is a party without crepe paper?”

Now what would a game be without a score board? Not much of anything! I made my own chalkboard scoreboard using an old picture frame that I bought at a yard sale several summers ago. Paint the glass with chalkboard spray paint and the frame with white spray paint, and that’s all there is to it.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Get yourself a chalk marker for the visitor and home teams and you are ready to go.

The Brackets

Now you just can’t celebrate the Big College Basketball Tournament without completing your bracket and predictions. How fun is it to predict your winners and then anticipate each game to see if you are correct. That’s what makes the whole watch party so much fun.

I can’t wait to get into the competitive spirit with my husband Mark too. It is so much fun to talk smack and just have a good time.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Be sure to print off plenty of empty brackets with pencils readily available for your guests to fill out their predictions as well before the games begin.

Be sure to follow me on social media. I will be updating y’all on my bracket and how I’m doing throughout March and part of April.

The Food

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

The great thing about party food is the indulgence of enjoying yourself. I personally love a good combo of sweet and salty. There is such a wonderful balance there.

A good party is just not good without a thirst-quenching classic Coca-Cola. It is definitely my favorite brand when choosing soda that I know everyone will love.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Be sure to head over to Sam’s Club to purchase Coca-Cola, Coke Zero, and Sprite and stock up for your watch parties.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

You are going to need the extra supply on hand for all those hungry sports fans to help wash down some sweet, but yet salty, treats I have in mind for you. Plus with this Big Tournament lasting for several weeks, you are sure to need lots to keep on hand.

If you love basketball, chocolate, and peanut butter, then you will go “slam dunk” for this Chocolate Peanut Butter Basketball. (Instead of a cheese ball, it’s a basketball. Get it? Cheesy I know. Wait, no pun intended there. Lol!)

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Crunchy Peanut butter
  • 8 oz package Cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • Splash of Coca-Cola
  • ½ cup Dark Chocolate chips
  • Orange sugar sprinkles
  • Pretzels, cookie wafers, and crackers, for dipping

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Combine the peanut butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and Coca-Cola in a food processor until well combined. *There is just something about chocolate and Coca-Cola that pairs together beautifully.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Fold in the chocolate chips next.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Roll the ball into a round shape and cover with the orange sugar sprinkles. You can either pour the sugar sprinkles on top and try to shake off any excess or roll the ball into the sprinkles. Whatever is easier for you. The sprinkles will also make it easier for you to form a ball without the cheeseball sticking to your fingers.

Then place the chocolate chips with the flat end facing up into the ball to form the lines of a basketball. *I found that when I poured the sprinkles first, it seemed difficult for the chocolate chips to stick. I would recommend actually placing the chips first and then adding the sprinkles.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

Serve on a platter with pretzels and cookie wafers for dipping.

There is just something delicious about a sweet cheeseball that everyone loves.

To balance the sweetness and sugar of a delicious cream cheese basketball, a classic salsa and crackers is always a good option. I found a large container of salsa at Sam’s Club while I was there and it is delicious. It actually taste homemade which saves me time cooking and more time for watching and cheering my team on.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

And because you may be in sugar and salty overload, it never hurts to balance everything out with some fresh fruit. I placed small “Overtime Oranges” in a pail because they resemble miniature basketballs to me.

For an extra little snack, I also poured buttered popcorn in individual cups with orange scrapbook paper for some extra color.

Detailed Plans for a Slam Dunk Basketball Party

For the fans of the “Salsa vs. Cheeseball” game, I placed the Sprite bottles and different Coca-Cola cans on the sidelines in the stands. Tape a black and white paper straw to each one and let the games begin!!

Oh boy! This is so exciting! I just can’t wait. Please let me know in the comments below who you will be cheering on and also how your bracket goes. Plus leave me a note letting me know how much you love that “Basketball” full of chocolatey peanut butter goodness. Enjoy your Coca-Cola!
