This post has been one that I have been wanting to share for quite some time but just never seemed to get around to it. I have been having too much fun playing with my little guy I guess to sit down and take the time to share the details of his nursery. I am so excited to share a few little snippets of his room with y’all today.

A Collection of My Favorite Baby Gifts

One thing that was an absolute must when I found out I was pregnant was to have a nice glider/rocker/recliner. It was most definitely at the top of my shopping list. I was fortunate enough to actually have two different ones with different styles. In a separate room from his nursery is my office that also doubles as a sitting area/play area with books, toys, his activity mat. I put the glider, rocker/recliner in that area with bookshelves and lots of books. It is definitely one of my most favorite areas in the house to sit and read, nurse, or just enjoy some good family time.

In his nursery, a good friend of mine gave me another rocker with a footstool. The styles are completely different and I absolutely love that. My friend is such a sweetheart and wanted to gift us with something that we could keep for many years and have many memories with it. This one is going to be special exactly like she dreamed. Plus I love that these chairs can be used in the future in any other area in my house.

Baby Boy Nursery Reveal

You can’t have a nursery without a crib so of course there’s that and above it is hanging this beautiful sign with a scripture that reminds me to constantly pray over my son when I see it.

Baby Boy Nursery Reveal

Hanging beside it is a wooden “C” that I just couldn’t resist. I love how the whole room has a touch of white crispness with gray walls and also touches of rustic wood to top it all off.

For his changing table, I used a family piece of furniture that was once my grandmother’s. My mom and I painted it and added new drawer pulls making it the perfect addition to his nursery. Add a lamp to the top, a Bible, and a changing pad, and you are all set for those messy diapers. 😉

Baby Boy Nursery Reveal

I really wanted to keep his room simple so that it could be something that we could change and redecorate easily as he gets older without having to repaint and buy all new decor every few years. I’m also loving this pennant from Dayspring that they were so gracious to send Baby Boy.

Baby Boy Nursery Reveal

The quote is such a great reminder and ties in perfectly with the same theme from the hanging framed scripture. It is perfect hanging in a window or even on his door instead of a wreath. Plus how adorable is that little hanging pom pom. These little types of decorations are such sweet reminders of what God wants for us every day. My prayer is that my son will grow up knowing that his Heavenly Father loves him and only wants the best for him.

If you absolutely adore this pennant as much as I do, then make sure to check out Dayspring right now to grab one for your home and even for a new mom perhaps. They also have different sizes, colors, and styles. And yes, there is pink too for the baby girls. AND, make sure you use the coupon code THANKYOU at checkout for 25% off your entire order. But that’s only through July so don’t forget and happy shopping.

Thanks for taking this little room tour with me! Hopefully this simple but yet classy decor will give you a few ideas for some touches to your child’s room.

Using a Planner for Scripture Writing and Prayer Journal

I recently asked all of you on Instagram what you would rather see, Planner Layout or Scripture Writing/Prayer Journal, in an upcoming blog post. Well an overwhelmingly majority of y’all said Scripture Writing so I’m here to deliver today. I recently was given the new 2018-2019 Illustrated Faith Planner from Dayspring and couldn’t wait to try this new idea for the upcoming year.

Using a Planner for Scripture Writing and Prayer Journal

As usual, I thought it would be fun to show the entire planner so you can see all its features and designs in a video. I also included a weekly layout showing not only how I’m using the planner to stay organized with my life and blog but also for scripture writing and recording prayers. Enjoy the video below, and then be sure to come back over to order yours today!

With washi tape and a few stickers, I have a whole layout complete in no time. I can still stay organized with my home and blog in one column on each page and then write scripture and prayers on the other columns. I love being able to stay organized and focus on scripture all in one place.

Using a Planner for Scripture Writing and Prayer Journal

I added a journaling card to the coil and jotted down a prayer on the back to focus on for that week.

No Time for Perfection with Bible Journaling

This month I’m talking about Illustrated Faith’s Watercolor Set. I may not be a professional at using watercolors but this set is perfect for all skill levels. Of course they can be toned down by just adding a little more water.

My Favorite Features

  • Tin Case perfect for traveling
  • Tin Case to mix colors easily
  • Paintbrush that unscrews to store in case easily
  • Work great on journaling Bible pages

100 Days of Bible Promises Challenge Update Days 15-28

This month I’m talking about Avery Full Sheet Shipping Labels. Yes, you heard that right. You may be thinking how are shipping labels a part of your crafting goodies, but they sure are. I can’t wait to share exactly how I’m using mine.

So what exactly is it?

Avery Full Sheet Shipping Labels sort of explain themselves in the name. Avery has all different sizes, but I’m using the 8.5″ x 11″. They come in clear and also white for both inkjet and laser printers.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Avery Full Sheet Shipping Labels

How can I use it?

I have seen other people on social media using these labels for printable downloads to use for Bible and art journaling. I had been wanting to try this technique and idea for so long and finally did last month. Now I think I need to buy stock in Avery labels because I can see many of these in my future.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Avery Full Sheet Shipping Labels

If you design your own art and printables then you can use these sheets to print them off. I love finding downloads online that are themed and already there for me. I purchase mine through Illustrated Faith and then just print them on the labels. The clear stickers sheets are amazing using them in your journaling Bible because even if the image doesn’t fit in the margin, you don’t have to worry about covering the scripture and not being able to read it still.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Avery Full Sheet Shipping Labels

These sticker sheets are also great for designing your weekly planner layout if that is more your style too. The possibilities are really endless. The white sticker sheets are great if you want a cardstock sticker style instead of the transparency of the clear ones. I’ve been using mine in my 100 Days of Bible Promises: Devotional Journal lately. (More info on the devotion and 100 day challenge HERE.) The girl with the umbrella and the other various rainbows and sunshines in the image below are from a printable from Illustrated Faith.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Avery Full Sheet Shipping Labels

I have absolutely fell in love with using these labels for Bible journaling that I have become addicted. You have been warned, but your journaling will definitely thank you. Please let me know below when you try these for yourself or if you already have. I would love to see how you use them too. Enjoy!!!

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher

This month is about a new item that I have been wanting for so long but had a hard time finding at first maybe because I wasn’t calling it the right thing. Once I got it correct, it was a breeze to find and so glad I did. The Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher is in the spotlight this month.

So what exactly is it?

Basically it is a stapler but with much smaller staples. The smaller size staples are not as heavy as traditional staples which doesn’t weigh the page down as much in a journaling Bible since they are much thinner.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher

How can I use it?

I love using mine to attach my tab at the top of my Bible journaling entry. I will usually go ahead and attach the tab with a decorative washi tape and then just add the staple for looks. I love the layering effect of the tab and washi. The staple just tops it off. You can also use it when layering different paper or tip-ins in the margins to attach them or add an extra touch. And if you are a paper planner person, then this is great for adding notes to your planner pages, etc.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition Featuring Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher

I can’t wait to use mine more and probably will find myself using it for every Bible journaling entry that I do just like I use my TAB punch. Let me know how you use yours if you have one or plan on getting one. Enjoy!!!

Make coordinating Mommy and son shirts using Cricut and new patterned iron on. Making your own shirts and other iron on goodies is even simpler now thanks to the Cricut EasyPress and EasyPress Mat. Plus how adorable is my baby boy!

First I just have to say how adorable this baby boy of mine is. So let’s just take a moment to stop and admire that adorable face. Okay sorry, not sorry, for that Mom moment. When I found out my dream of becoming a Mommy was happening, I knew I had to make some adorable outfits for my baby. What’s the best way to do so? Using my Cricut Explore Air 2 of course.

Make Coordinating Mommy and Son Shirts using Cricut and New Patterned Iron On

Make Coordinating Mommy and Son Shirts using Cricut and New Patterned Iron On

They have just introduced their new patterned iron on that I am obsessed with. You don’t have to layer the vinyl to get different designs or colors. The patterns give so much dimension now. Below is the Nature Walk Basics Patterned Iron-On Sampler. You get 3- 12” x 17” sheets in each pack. I love that it comes with 3 different designs that are also coordinating so you can mix and match with different projects and still have everything match. I can’t wait to use this same patterned iron-on to add designs to my son’s baby bag.

Another sampler pack I can’t wait to try is the Natalie Malan® Aquamarine Patterned Iron-On Sampler. The vibrant mix of blues and greens is so pretty for summer. This set would be great for me to use to personalize my beach bag and organizing pouches. I’m even thinking of using it to monogram my beach towel or one for my son. You can tell where my mind is right now. 😉

And to make it even easier, you have to try using their EasyPress and EasyPress mat. The EasyPress will give you professional iron-on results in less than 60 seconds. What a lifesaver! Keep reading to see below how to use it exactly.

Let’s get started making these coordinating shirts so your little guy can be dressed just as adorable and matching you just in time for Mother’s Day too. Click HERE for the design in Cricut Design Space that is all ready to go. You can change any wording if you like and also change the size of the lettering depending on your own shirt size. I made my baby onesie on a newborn onesie and my shirt is size small if that helps for text sizing.

Make Coordinating Mommy and Son Shirts using Cricut and New Patterned Iron On

You will cut out the patterned iron-on using the Cricut Explore Air 2 and a standard grip adhesive cutting mat. Be sure to mirror your images before cutting due to being iron-on. Also place the patterned side or shiny side down on the mat with the white backing showing. Remove from the mat and weed the vinyl to remove the negative vinyl you don’t need. (The tool set makes this so much easier too. Especially the weeder.)

Get to Know the Cricut Explore Air 2

Now we are ready to apply the iron-on to both shirts. That’s where the fun just keeps getting better because we are going to use the EasyPress. Think of it as a square shaped iron that you can control the specific heat setting and also a timer for perfect results every time. The EasyPress comes with a chart that shows what settings to use for temperature and length of time depending on the specific iron-on you use. (Cricut also has a more detailed chart online.)

Make Coordinating Mommy and Son Shirts using Cricut and New Patterned Iron On

  • Place your shirts on the EasyPress Mat. The mat is perfect to handle the heat and also gives a cushion and barrier from the surface you are working on. Cricut really has thought of everything haven’t they?
  • Enter your settings on the EasyPress and then before you start the time, heat the area of the shirt you are applying iron-on.
  • Place your iron-on design on the shirt with the clear lining facing up.
  • Press the EasyPress directly on top of the design and start the timer applying low pressure.
  • Once finished, it will beep letting you know you can remove it.
  • Place your EasyPress back on its base to avoid ruining your workspace.
  • Then remove the plastic lining once cooled to see your design.
  • If you notice the edges are needing a little more heat, just reset your settings and press again.

And now all you need to do is dress that precious baby in their onesie, and you have the perfect coordinating outfit for any outing, just lounging around the house, and especially for Mother’s Day. I can’t wait to wear ours for Mother’s Day. What a special time and memories we will make thanks to Cricut.

Faber Castell Gelatos Tutorial for Bible Journaling

There are so many different techniques and things you can do with gelatos which is what makes them so fun for your creativity. My Favorite Things Craft Edition featuring Faber Castell gelatos has to be one of the top favorites for this series and must be included.

Some of the links below are “affiliate links.” This means if you click a link and purchase an item, I will receive a small affiliate commission that helps me to be able to continue with this blog and hopefully continue to inspire you as well.

Each month I am featuring a new favorite from my craft stash, whether new or old, to share with y’all. The idea came to me after getting questions about what specific items I like to use so I thought it would be fun to highlight them. The last part of this series featured my date stamp. I absolutely love mine, and I know you will too so be sure to check out that post as well if you missed it.

A List of Supplies to Start Collecting for Bible Journaling

Today is all about my Faber Castell Gelatos. I say it all the time, and some of you may be sick of hearing it, but they are absolutely one of my most favorite craft items I own. I pull them out all the time when I’m working in my journaling Bible. You could even use them in your planner and with art journaling.

So what exactly are they?

They are similar to a crayon in texture and look like a chapstick in its tube that can be twisted up when needed. They go smoothly onto the page like butter and can be used with several different techniques for different effects. You can find all different colors and color sets including bright, metallic, and pastel.

How can I use them?

You can use the gelatos in a similar way to crayons by just drawing on the page without any extra technique. The colors are very bold and perfect to use them alone. They just have a wide tip so it would be hard to use them as a crayon for smaller details.

I have used them with a damp cloth or baby wipe to blend different colors together or give a watercolor effect. You could also use a makeup sponge. See how to use them HERE with the damp cloth method. Below is a picture showing what they look like when applied directly to the page and how they look after using the damp cloth or wipe to blend them.

Another favorite of mine is wetting the top of the gelato with a wet paintbrush and wiping that color onto a  clear stamp and stamping directly to the page. Basically if you can think up an idea of using them, then it will probably work because they are so versatile. Here is the tutorial for using this technique.

How to Use Gelatos Using a Paintbrush and Water for Bible Journaling

Don’t be intimidated to try them out if you never have or don’t feel like the most artistic person. I started out using them in basic ways and have started branching out and trying even more fun techniques. I’m so glad I did. Let me know if you try them out and what technique is your favorite. Also please leave any questions you may have in the comments below. Enjoy!!!

My Favorite Things Craft Edition featuring the Date Stamp

I’m so excited to be back with the next part of a new series featuring some of my favorites. My Favorite Things Craft Edition featuring the date stamp is going to be a fun one. Date stamps are perfect for remembering any event.

Some of the links below are “affiliate links.” This means if you click a link and purchase an item, I will receive a small affiliate commission that helps me to be able to continue with this blog and hopefully continue to inspire you as well.

I started this new series last month where I will be featuring a new favorite from my craft stash, whether new or old, to share with y’all. The idea came to me after getting questions about what specific items I like to use so I thought it would be fun to highlight them. The first part featured the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine so be sure to check out that post as well.

For this month, my featured item may seem small, but is absolutely a favorite and must-have of mine. What is this special tool of mine? The Date Stamp! You must be thinking, “A date stamp, that’s all?”. But yes, they are amazing. You can find different brands with different style fonts and options. Some even come with more than just dates with phrases for different occasions.

Faber Castell Gelatos Tutorial for Bible Journaling

I have several different brands that I trade out using. And yes, one of those is also Heidi Swapp brand. Don’t laugh at me too hard since we just talked about her minc machine last month. She isn’t paying me to say any of these things. I just love the style font honestly. I also have an American Crafts brand that I really love. I keep one in my office and the other one in my Bible journaling travel bag to have handy when leaving the house.

Spend some time meditating on the Word during this Christmas season by illustrating advent in your journaling Bible. Check out this Christmas Bible journaling entry with gelatos tutorial now.

The reason why a simple date stamp is making my top lists of favorite items is because it marks a memorable moment in my life or a highlight in my spiritual journey for that particular season. Because I primarily use it in my journaling Bible, I love being able to flip back to old entries and knowing exactly when I made that page. I can usually tell by my journaling what I may have been going through at that time and see where I’ve grown from it. I also love that if the date is a milestone moment and something big happened, then I know exactly when it was for years to come.

Tips for Bible Journaling No Matter the Artistic Skill Level

Now couldn’t I just due the same thing by writing in the date with a black pen? Yes, I sure could, but where’s the fun in that. The stamp is adorable and also gives a little vintage feel and texture to the page that wasn’t there before. Also try considering using yours in your planner. (Check out this one if you are looking for a new one. It’s 50% off right now too.) Especially if your planner is blank and you can add in your own dates for each month. That would be a super fun way to dress up the pages with a simple touch. I use mine some in my planner to date each day of the week on my weekly spread. The picture below shows where I dated the page in a devotional booklet or journal.

Tips for Bible Journaling No Matter the Artistic Skill Level

Let me know in the comments below if you have used a date stamp and if you have any other suggestions for places to use it. I would love to have some new ideas. If you have never tried one and end up getting one, I can’t wait for you to have some fun. God bless!

I'm so excited to be back with the next part of a new series featuring some of my favorites. My Favorite Things Craft Edition featuring the date stamp is going to be a fun one. Date stamps are perfect for remembering any event.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine

This is the beginning of a new series featuring My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine. Each month I’ll be featuring a new item that I love whether an old favorite or a new find.

I get questions sometimes from y’all asking what certain products I like to use for Bible journaling techniques or other craft projects. So I’m excited this year to have the spotlight on one of my favorite craft products each month. I will be sharing oldies but goodies and also new finds that I just adore too.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine

So who has heard of Heidi Swapp? Better question is who hasn’t heard of Heidi Swapp if you are into crafting? I was so blessed and honored to be able to meet her a couple of years ago at the SNAP conference for bloggers and creatives. I wrote more about that HERE if you are interested.

Blog Conference Tips

Well she is truly one of the most down to earth and genuinely kind people I have met. She also happens to create some of the most fun and interesting products that you can’t help be hooked on. I am always excited to see what she will come up with next. One of her favorite products of mine though is the Minc Machine. The what?!

The Minc Machine is a foil applicator machine. It takes what may be an already beautiful creation to the next level. You can print any design using a laser printer (or use her specially designed Minc products) and then pick a color foil you wish to use. You run the paper or product through the machine with the transfer folder and end up with a beautifully foiled design.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine

My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine

Look how stunning the results are. What was a pretty hand lettered design in black font is now gold foiled.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine

The look of this machine is similar to that of a laminator. She even has 2 sizes with a mini version as well. I have the mini version because I use mine to do more with my Bible journaling entries. You will also find that she has Minc reactive products such as a liquid toner paint or mist that use can create other projects with. I would love to try the mist as well and then run it through with foil. The results would be gorgeous for some wall decor.

And let me just add that I am not writing this post on behalf of Heidi Swapp. Everything I have said is from my own opinion because I just love the foiling effect so much. I know you will love the results too. The best part is when you open the transfer folder and see the foil results. It truly is the little things.

My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine

Let me know in the comments below if you have used the Minc Machine before and what you love to create with it. I would love to have some new ideas. If you have never tried it and end up getting one, I can’t wait for you to have some fun. I hope to be sharing more of how I use mine in my journaling Bible this year too. God bless!

This is the beginning of a new series featuring My Favorite Things Craft Edition with the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine. Each month I'll be featuring a new item that I love whether an old favorite or a new find.
