Christmas Gift Idea for Any Man

Shopping for a man…HARDEST JOB EVER. Well maybe not the hardest, but it has to rank high up there somewhere. Mark isn’t the hardest person to buy for but is particular about certain things I guess like anyone else is too. I have learned these things since being together which makes Christmas shopping for him better.

I am usually the one who worries that he won’t like something when he actually ends up loving it and isn’t hard to please at all. Well now you don’t have to worry anymore. This men’s gift basket idea is perfect for any man in your life.

Christmas Gift Idea for Any Man

Christmas Gift Idea for Any Man

Every man I know shaves. But who really wants to get disposable razors and shaving cream for Christmas? (Unless you are playing the White Elephant game and need a gag gift maybe.) But a gift basket full of personal care items wrapped up nicely with a Philips Norelco Shaver is the perfect gift.

Some men won’t take the time to buy something nice for themselves like a razor, so you can surprise them with one that is super nice but yet something they will definitely use and love.

Mark has sensitive skin and must use a good quality razor. When I found the Norelco Shaver 4200 model at Target, I knew that he would love it. (And yes, I was in Target again. I can’t help myself.)

Christmas Gift Idea for Any Man

This shaver is also designed for either wet or dry use with a comfortable shave that protects their skin at the same time. For Mark this is huge because like I said his skin is sensitive.

Christmas Gift Idea for Any Man

The shaver is also designed with blades that are made to lift hairs being sure to shave more hair for a more even and smooth shave. What’s the point of shaving if you keep missing hairs anyways?

Christmas Gift Idea for Any Man

And did I mention it’s also cordless if everything else wasn’t enough? Mark hates having cords that get in the way when he is shaving and having to wrap them up. They just get in the way. Plus they look so messy which drives me crazy. This is a win-win for both of us.

Now let’s wrap it up all nicely with a few other essentials!

Must Have’s:

  • Gift basket- Choose something that they can reuse later.
  • Tissue Paper
  • Bow or ribbon
  • Norelco Shaver 4200
  • Shaving cream
  • Shower gel
  • Loofah (And yes, I had to look up the spelling. Such an odd word.)
  • Men’s toiletry travel bag

I just started placing the items in the basket until I was happy with how it looked. Place some tissue paper to fill any gaps and give some pops of color too.

I added a bow on the front. You could also hang a Christmas tag with bakers twine which would be really cute.

Christmas Gift Idea for Any Man

Now I don’t know of any man that wouldn’t love something like this. The basket maybe not so much, but hey they can definitely give it back to you to use in the house anyways so be sure to pick one you really love too.

I love finding new and different ways to surprise my husband with a gift that he will really love and can actually use. I can’t wait for him to use the Norelco Shaver. Please let me know in the comments below of any gift ideas you have for guys too. And if you are needing more ideas, then be sure to check out these creative ideas HERE.

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!!! It is just absolutely my most favorite time of the year. Seriously?! Words just can’t describe how much I love it.

I literally am just like a kid. I just can’t help myself. There is something about the magic in the air. Because I love it so much, I find such joy in decorating my house for Christmas too.

I can’t wait to share a small part of my decorations today from my front porch with a complete Christmas home tour soon to come.

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

I have really enjoyed embracing the rustic and traditional decorations with a touch of plaid. Because who doesn’t love plaid this year? It is everywhere, and I am so happy that it is.

P.S. Yes that is purple paint around my front door. It really needs a paint job desperately. I have a Victorian style home that has so much character, and I seriously love it. The purple tends to suit it just fine but not for my taste. I will also try to share pictures of the entire house outdoor and our decorations very soon.

Probably though my most favorite part of the entire front porch is the wreath and garland that I have hanging at the front door that came from Tree Classics.

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

They both light up and have their own battery box attached so I don’t have to worry about having cords stretched out everywhere and showing (which is one reason why I have never had my wreath light up or even hang garland).

They both have branches that resemble a real Frasier Fir and touches of red berries and pine cones for extra color. With just a little time fluffing both, they were hung and just as beautiful as they could be.

Be sure to head over to Tree Classics website to enter a giveaway as well for a 7.5’ Classic Noble Fir Snap Tree™. Be sure to stick around for more bloggers and their Christmas home tours below.

Directly beside the front door is a black chair that I use for Thanksgiving as well with several different items that I had laying around the house and decided they would work perfect for Christmas.

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

The white bird cage is one I found on clearance last year. The burlap bucket and vintage skis came from the dollar spot of course. The red Christmas blanket keeps everything looking so cozy which I found at Kohl’s during Black Friday shopping.

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

The miniature Christmas tree is just adorable without any extra ornaments or anything. Another great clearance find. I just couldn’t help myself that I had to buy several more. The red and white crate also came after July 4th that my Mom found on clearance. I just love that nothing I buy hardly is full price.

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

On the other side of the front door, is a wooden chest we bought at a yard sale for $5 that works great on our porch to store gardening items while also serving the purpose of décor. Sitting on it is my $1 poinsettia I get every year on Black Friday with another of the clearance mini trees and a gold lantern.

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

At the top of my porch steps on both sides are miniature lit trees in pots and a red lantern for more pop of color. Can you tell I love red especially this year for some reason?

Rustic and Cozy Christmas Front Porch

I couldn’t be happier with how my front porch turned out. It seems so welcoming and cozy at the same time.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. I pinky promise. #eHolidays #CollectiveBias

So it’s that time of year already where we start thinking about Christmas cards. In a world centered around technology and email, most people forget that feeling to receive a hand written note or card in the mail.

I would even be curious to know if kids are even being taught anymore how to address and stamp an envelope. (Let’s hope the computers don’t crash.)

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

I absolutely love hand written cards, but let’s be real. For some of us, that can be the last thing we really have time to do to sit down and write them all out and then address them as well. Let’s not even get started on top of that with how much postage cost these days too.

So I have the perfect solution for you in this fast and changing world we live in. You can send all your Christmas cards this year with thegiftcardshop.com.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

Not only do they provide cards for Christmas but just about any holiday during the year that you can think of. They also have video messages and digital photobooks.

If you have family that doesn’t live close, then they have got you covered. They have the convenience to just add a gift card to any digital card or product you choose for no additional charge from the cost of the gift card itself.

Some brands that you can find include Amazon, eBay, AMC Theatres, Applebee’s, Sephora, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Nike, Sears, Olive Garden, and many more. This is just naming a few of them.

I decided to surprise my husband with a fun treat in his inbox by sending a video greeting for Christmas. It is so hard to surprise him so I thought this would be a fun way to catch him off guard with a little something to brighten his day.

You can personalize your greeting in no time and add the gift card in just a few simple steps.

On their home page, you will find a very user friendly design with options for both digital and mail versions of greetings.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

I chose a digital video message with several different options to choose from.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

You can then personalize with the recipient’s name, picture, and information making it as cute and unique as you would like.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

Once all the personalized information is put in, you will get a preview before it is actually sent so you can be sure it is just the way you like it.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

Be sure to click the small box at the bottom of the screen that says “Add a Gift Card” before hitting next, or your greeting will be sent without your gift.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

Once you have selected your gift card, continue to the confirmation page to confirm your gift card.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

You will then receive a confirmation page and just like that you have your Christmas gifts taken care of. No more waiting in long lines at department stores and fighting the crowds to go shopping.

A Fun and Non-Traditional Christmas Greeting

And if you have family that lives out of town, this makes life so much simpler for you and them with a digital gift card that you don’t even have to mail.

I love finding “new to me” ideas and places to shop that make my life easier and also make gift giving a little bit more fun. I hope you will enjoy too and find this makes your Christmas shopping easier and even throughout the year for any occasion.

Check out all the options and designs at thegiftcardshop.com for yourself too. Let me know whether you prefer hand written notes or a digital version better in the comments below.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

Getting ready for Christmas and the holidays can become a pretty daunting task when you start thinking about it. I start to become overwhelmed sometimes just thinking about everything that has to get done.

But today I have some good news for you! I have found a few fun things that have helped me already and I can’t wait to share them with y’all too to hopefully make your lives a little easier during this busy time of year.

Get started now!

Waiting until the last minute to start planning, crafting, shopping, wrapping, cleaning, etc. will only make things worse. If you can start planning now to do a little bit every day or when you get a chance then you will thank yourself later.

One thing I love to do this time of year is craft. That doesn’t happen if I wait until the last second to do so. Something will always seem to creep up and takes its place if I’m not careful. So this year, I am starting early with my ocean view ornament.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

My ocean view shadow box that I made last year is one of my favorites and really seems to be a favorite of yall’s too to keep your summer memories alive all year. So I thought why not make it into an ornament to hang on our Christmas tree.

Ocean View Shadow Box

Supplies:

  • Clear plastic, round ornament- You will want one that can open in order to put your picture inside. I found mine at Michaels.
  • Pictures from recent vacation
  • Sand
  • Mod podge
  • Foam brush
  • Glue stick
  • Fishing line

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

*You could also change this idea up a bit to suit whatever trip you had. Be sure to collect sand and seashells from your next beach vacation to use for this idea.

  1. Paint mod podge on the inside of the bottom third of the ornament if your ornament opens. If you can’t find one that opens, you can also paint the mod podge on the outside of the ornament.
  2. Sprinkle the sand over the mod podge until completely covered on the bottom third. Shake off any excess (hopefully over a newspaper to reduce the spill).
  3. Cut a circle out of 2 pictures. Cut a piece of fishing line and place it between the 2 photos being sure to glue the photos together with the fishing line between them.
  4. Place the pictures in the center of the ornament before attaching together again and tie the fishing line to the top where you would normally place the ornament hook.
  5. I used a small piece of blue and white bakers twine tied in a knot for the ornament hanger.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

You can now hang your ornament on the Christmas tree and remember all your trips and memories from the past year.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

Now you are probably thinking this project is going to be a bit messy using sand especially with the kids involved. I’ve got you covered…

Start cleaning now!

Don’t wait until the night before or the day of a party to start cleaning your house. You will definitely become overwhelmed.

I have found something that has made my life so much easier this year. That’s the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

I know that’s a mouth full, but it has been a lifesaver for me especially since I have 3 dogs. Two of which are labs, Bryant and Mac, which shed a good bit keeping us busy vacuuming after them all the time.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

Dogs will be dogs and just because they are house trained doesn’t mean they will not ever have an accident or get sick in the house. It happens to the best of them.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

I am always trying to make sure that the rug in our living room doesn’t look dingy or stained either. Now I don’t have to worry. My carpets will be beautiful and smell even better after using the BISSELL carpet cleaner. As you can see, this rug keeps plenty of hair no matter how hard I have tried in the past.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

The stains are also very real that I didn’t even realize it. The super clean circle you see is where the rug was sitting partially under my couch. I didn’t even know it had turned that much. I can’t wait to see how it looks after it’s all cleaned.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

It even has an Express Clean mode leaving the carpets clean and dry in just an hour making it even easier in case you do wait to the last minute to start your holiday cleaning.

BISSELL also has a 2X Pet Stain and Odor Remover and Professional Pet Urine Eliminator Formula that contains Scotchgard. You aren’t only cleaning, but preventing future messes and urine from saturating the carpet.

Their Pet Oxy Boost Carpet Cleaning Formula Enhancer is what really attracted my eyes to this cleaner as well because it contains Oxy. You would use it in addition to one of the base formulas I mentioned above to remove those really tough pet stains.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

You can pick up your own BISSELL carpet cleaner at Target too with a wide range of cleaning products to use with it as well while you are doing some holiday shopping. Who doesn’t love Target, really?

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

This cleaner was perfect for me to use after crafting with sand and glitter and all the holiday parties too. And yes, I clean in my pajama pants. You gotta be comfortable, right?

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

It is lightweight and very easy to push and pull. Not only that, it can also be taken apart easily to keep it clean.

Ocean View Ornament + Holiday Prep Tips

Plus you can even enter a giveaway! How gracious of them!

I would love to know if you have any holiday prep tips to share with everyone. Please leave them in the comments below. Also let me know if you try the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner and how much you love it too.

Just because Halloween has passed, it does not mean you have to pack away all the pumpkins just yet. Fall is still here with Thanksgiving approaching very soon. Be sure to check stores for artificial pumpkins now that are being marked down to clearance.

They will be perfect for this fun pumpkin decorating idea. I am sharing all the details over at By Dawn Nicole Blog so be sure to head over now. Plus she has some pretty awesome tips and ideas for hand lettering for all skills levels.

Chalkboard Fall Pumpkins Pin

Enjoy this fun time of year and let me know in the comments below what you are grateful for. The little things can mean the most so no matter what it is, I would love to know.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

I may just be a little behind the game here, but I still wanted to share a Fall home tour of my own in hopes that someone out there was a little late with the game this year in getting your house decorated too.

If you are, then I hope these ideas will inspire you as well to get going. Plus the great thing is that my Fall front porch literally took my less than 10 minutes to put together and only cost me the amount I paid for the pumpkins.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

That’s it! Pretty simple, huh? The good news is that you can do the same thing and get the same look so let’s get started now.

First, Start by shopping around your house.

Whenever I get ready to decorate for a holiday, I always look around the house for what I already have and can use. Don’t ever just run to the store first and buy so much stuff you THINK you need but don’t actually.

Below is my fall front porch this year with the majority of the items being things I already had, but decided to reuse them in a new way here to make them work.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

  • The black chair was already on my back porch that I bought last year at Ikea.
  • The wooden chest I found at a yard sale several summers ago for $5. It was sitting on my back porch under “a mess” of random stuff and not really being used to its beautiful potential. The nice thing is that it also stores gardening items and keeps them hidden, but can be used as a bench or piece of décor. I love the rustic feel of it too.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

  • The miniature white wooden table was also a great yard sale find. The paint is chipping, but I like that look for this. It just adds to the rustic Fall look.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

  • Sitting on top of the miniature table are a couple of dried and basically “dead” branches that came off one of our pencil trees in the front landscaping. I had saved them for this very purpose and love the extra height they give.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

  • The gold lantern is a Target dollar spot section find that I had to have several months ago. I am slightly obsessed with lanterns and gold. Check this post out HERE to see exactly what I’m talking about.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

  • Standing by the door is a black iron lantern that hangs on a stand. Another great yard sale find that fits in perfectly.
  • The mason jar is one I saved before from an old spaghetti sauce jar and just wrapped a burlap ribbon around it and placed flowers inside. This flower arrangement was something I used last year on my Thanksgiving tablescape.
  • Hanging on my door is a wreath that I bought several years ago and have taken good care of in order to be able to use it again and again each year. I love all the colors it brings out too. It feels so welcoming at the front door.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

  • On top of that beautiful rustic chest, I placed a pumpkin that I had already made for a Fall centerpiece on your dining room table. I love how multi-functional things can be when we just stop and look around.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

Second, Don’t be afraid to go with a non-traditional style for Fall this year.

I am finding that this year, more and more people are going from the traditional bright orange and yellow for Fall to a more neutral and relaxed feel.

I did include several of the traditional bright orange pumpkins, but also found some that were different and unique during mine and Mark’s recent adventure to a local pumpkin patch and farmer’s market.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

Especially that blue doll pumpkin (that’s what the man at the pumpkin patch called it) sitting on the chair. I saw it and fell in love with it right away. I knew I wanted to include a touch of aqua somehow and this was perfect.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

Depending on the lighting, the pumpkin will appear aqua, mint green, or even a cream color.

The other flat light orange pumpkins (cheese pumpkins) and the flat white pumpkins (flat white boer pumpkins) give it a unique look as well that I couldn’t resist.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

Several of these also came from the clearance rack at the farmers market for $0.99. What?! Really?! I didn’t even know there was such a thing at the farmer’s marker. Y’all know me and my clearance deals. I was beyond ecstatic.

To continue the rustic feeling as you walk in the front door, sitting on a leather bench in my entryway is a cozy blanket and a couple of burlap covered pumpkins.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

My Mom actually found these for me on clearance one year after Thanksgiving, and they have been one of my favorites ever since.

If you love these pumpkins as much as I do and can’t find any when you’re shopping, I have a tutorial HERE for how to make your very own by using artificial “tacky” pumpkins that can even be bright green like mine were and make them rustic and chic.

Don’t be afraid to repurpose items.

Just as I was able to repurpose the wooden chest on my front porch, I also hung a grapevine wreath on an iron coat hanger that was previously doing its exact job of holding coats. It just as easily became a wreath stand.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

I left the wreath plain with nothing added to continue with the minimal earthy feeling.

My tablescape is probably my next favorite spot in my house during this time of year. I shared my Thanksgiving tablescape last year and used many of the same ideas again this year because I just love how it turned out that much.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

Instead of using fine china that is painted with pumpkins or fall leaves, I decided to use vintage books at each place setting. Seasonal themed plates can be so expensive to only use them for a short time of the year.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

But I can’t take credit of the book idea all myself. I was actually at the Country Living Fair last year and saw this on a table. I instantly fell in love and knew I had to do it myself.

What makes these books even more special is that they are my great-grandmothers, and even one is her Bible. It makes setting the table a real treat to look down and see them.

On top of each book, you add a miniature grapevine wreath with some moss and a pumpkin.

It really is that simple and inexpensive but still just as gorgeous.

Decorate Your Fall Porch in 10 Minutes

I hope some of these simple tips I have found that have worked beautifully for me will be a huge help to y’all too.

I know that sometimes we all get overwhelmed seeing all the gorgeous and extravagant home décor in magazines and on the internet, and we start thinking we could never do that so we don’t even know where to start and give up.

You no longer have to. Start with what you have, shop for a few things you still need, and repurpose what you already have too!

I can’t wait to see what wonderful ideas y’all come up with too. Please feel free to share with me in the comments below or on social media.

Also if you have not already, please join me on FacebookPinterestInstagram, and Twitter. I would love to hear from you with any comments, suggestions, or ideas you may have.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

Thanksgiving will be here before we even know it and can barely even blink. But that is perfectly fine with me because I love this time of year. It is definitely one of my most favorite times.

I just wish it would slow down some once it gets here. It seems to pass twice as fast as it did for it to get here. With all the Fall and Christmas decorating, you want your efforts to last a little longer too.

Today I have the most beautiful Fall centerpiece for your Thanksgiving dinner. First of all, it is so easy to make. Second, your kids can also get involved and help you. While they are decorating pumpkins, you can have your own adult fun too. (Sometimes I just feel like such a big kid myself.)

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

Combine a pumpkin, floral bouquet, and burlap for a rustic and beautiful centerpiece. Your guests will think you spent so much time and money, but we will keep the real truth a secret.

My husband and I had the pleasure of going to a local farm earlier this week and being able to pick our own pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. I look forward to this every year, so we couldn’t stop the tradition now.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

I have to share this funny story too. I am a huge bargain shopper, so when I found that in the farm’s produce store that they had a clearance rack I was ecstatic. I found several pumpkins that had been marked down to only $0.99.

And we aren’t talking just tiny little pumpkins. These were full size, larger ones like the one I used for this project. It made my heart happy. Sometimes it truly is just the little things that do it for me.

Now let’s get started making this centerpiece so you can “Wow” all your guests too.

First start by cutting a circle on the top of the pumpkin to make a hole. *I thought this picture makes me look a little crazy with the knife so please be careful when cutting yours.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

Clean out all the guts from the inside. *This is where the kids will love to get involved and get their hands messy.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

Before filling the pumpkins with water, I decided to tie a burlap ribbon around the pumpkin to give it an extra rustic feel that would work perfect with my dining room table as well.

Next I filled a cup with water that fit inside perfectly to keep the flowers hydrated. *It is hard to see in the picture, but the cup is there. Trust me.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

*You could also use a floral foam block that you can wet and then insert the flowers into to keep them hydrated and also stay standing the way you prefer. I didn’t have one on hand and decided to use the cup instead.

This beautiful bouquet of flowers came from ProFlowers and was delivered right to my door. All I had to do is open the beautiful packaging and get to decorating. Along with the bouquet was a beautiful glass vase that I can’t wait to use in the future too.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

They have a large Halloween collection as well with flowers perfectly colored and chosen for this time of year.

Start measuring the flowers by placing them and trimming them as you need. Then place the flowers and arrange them how you like.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

I placed my pumpkin on the table in the middle of a grapevine wreath. I spread moss around the pumpkin inside the wreath.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

I love the appearance this pumpkin gives to really tie the whole table together.

Rustic Pumpkin Centerpiece and Tablescape

For each place setting, I used a bright green placemat and then placed vintage books in the middle opened up with a miniature grapevine wreath on top. Add a mini pumpkin and moss inside the wreath to match the centerpiece.

Check out more of my Thanksgiving tablescape from last year HERE to get more ideas using burlap and flowers.

You could also place it on your front porch with other pumpkins and Fall decor once the dinner is over.

Ideas for an Inexpensive Easter Tablescape

There is one thing that I really love to do every holiday if possible and that’s decorating our dining room table accordingly. I love making new centerpieces and thinking of new and different things to use for each place setting.

Decorating your table for every holiday doesn't have to be expensive. Thesoutherncouture.com shows you how to use items you already have around the house without breaking the bank.

For Easter, I had the perfect decorations in mind. You may recall seeing the miniature grapevine wreaths before when I shared my Thanksgiving tablescape. I knew the idea of using it as a nest would be perfect for Easter and couldn’t wait to share it with y’all.

Several of the pieces I am using here were also used for that same tablescape which is one of my favorite parts of it because I don’t have to buy more decorations for every holiday but can use just a few new and different pieces that are appropriate for that particular holiday.

On the center of the table, I started with a basic table runner that I made from gold shimmered burlap. I just bought it by the yard at Joann and then cut it to the width I wanted. This burlap runner has been on my table ever since Thanksgiving and I love it!

Ideas for an Inexpensive Easter Tablescape

For the centerpiece, I made these Easter egg topiaries last year. I love them even more now and how they look sitting on my table. Check out the full tutorial here for all the details. They are simple to make and a great decoration also for your mantle. The varying heights also makes them pop.

Ideas for an Inexpensive Easter Tablescape

Beside the topiaries, I placed several mason jars on each side that are wrapped in burlap garland from my Thanksgiving decorations. I picked up different colors of artificial flowers from the Dollar Tree and trimmed them down using wire cutters for the correct height. Pick colors of flowers that will coordinate with your other decorations. I love bright pink flowers so it was hard for me to resist, but they wouldn’t match.

Ideas for an Inexpensive Easter Tablescape

Now for probably my most favorite part of the whole table are the place settings. I used these vintage, or old, whatever you want to call them books at Thanksgiving and just can’t help but use them again. First of all they are special to me because they were my great grandmother’s and have so much meaning.

Ideas for an Inexpensive Easter Tablescape

Second you can use books instead of plates for each place setting if you don’t have special Easter china plates. It can be expensive to always buy matching dishes for certain holidays. This keeps you from having to do that and also reusing something old and making it new.

On top of each book, I placed a miniature grapevine wreath which you can find at most craft stores for $1. In each wreath, I placed some moss and floral grass which came from the dollar tree. All you need now are some eggs for those nests.

I love using speckled eggs for Easter decorations. They look vintage to me even though they really aren’t. I wanted to use speckled eggs for my topiaries last year but couldn’t find any that didn’t cost me an arm and leg.

I found the purple ones in the dollar spot at Target and got the other colors in a bundle together at Michaels.

The bright green placemats at each place setting really add that pop of color without having to use a different tablecloth. I found these on clearance at Target for $0.99 each.

And now you have yourself a beautiful and elegant Easter tablescape without breaking the bank.

I love being able to still decorate and make things look expensive even though they are not. I love all the fancy china for each holiday, but even if you don’t have a set do not count yourself out. Your table can still be gorgeous!

Moss and Twine Wrapped Easter Bunny

I can’t believe that March is already half way through and April is upon us which means Easter!! Easter is such a fun holiday with Easter egg hunts and Sunday family dinners. But we must not forget the true reason for celebrating and that is the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

You will never believe what this bunny looked like before. Come to thesoutherncouture.com and see what is wrapped under all that twine. A perfect decoration to use for not only Easter but Spring as well.

Keep reading to the end and check out 16 other Easter ideas that some of my blogging friends have come up with too. We have teamed up with an Easter post blog hop which to me are the most fun. I love seeing how unique each of our creativity is and what we come up with.

I love to keep the excitement of each holiday alive in our house by having a fun craft to make. I found this cardboard bunny at the Dollar Tree that was cute, but needed the outline of a bunny for what I wanted to do with it even more. Plus it only cost me $1.00 so I didn’t mind to cover it up.

What you will need:

Leave about an inch space at the bottom to cover with moss at the end. Place a dot of hot glue about 1” from the bottom and then place the twine in the glue and let it harden.

Start wrapping the twine around the bunny until it is completely covered. Get comfortable for this part and just keep wrapping. I think my husband and I were actually watching American Idol while I made this.

*Parts of the rabbit where it curves could be challenging to keep the twine in place. I placed some hot glue on the edges of the curves to keep the twine in place which was helpful. Don’t worry if the rabbit shows through some. The silver glitter shows some with mine but really just adds some glitz.

I bought my moss at the dollar store in the floral section. Squirt some hot glue at the bottom 1” of the rabbit and then just place the moss. This part is a little messy.

On the tail glue several white pom-poms in place which I also found at the dollar store in the arts and crafts section.

*Now that I think of it, everything came from the dollar store except the twine and hot glue gun making this craft so affordable but looking much more expensive and store bought.

Tie a colorful ribbon around the neck of the rabbit and you are done. This ribbon was in the Easter section at the dollar store and is perfect with all the bright colors. I loved that it could also be used for other Spring projects and not just Easter.

I stood my rabbit on a plaque stand to display and have ended up putting it on my kitchen counter to add a little Spring color. Pair it with a miniature grapevine wreath and speckled Easter eggs for a centerpiece. Stay tuned later this week where I will share another way to use this grapevine wreath and eggs to decorate for Easter.

You could also add a ribbon to the top and hang it over your mantle or even on your front door.

Enjoy this Easter spending time with family and remembering why we celebrate, our Savior.

Easy-and-Inexpensive-St-Patricks-Day-Center-Piece-Featured-Image

This centerpiece will only cost you a few dollars after a trip to the dollar store. Come see what all you will need before going out again at thesoutherncouture.com. Who says decorating has to be expensive?

Today I have a simple but still adorable craft for you. And of course it is holiday themed. With St. Patrick’s Day, I didn’t want to do too many decorations and take it over the top but still at least decorate a little bit.

This St. Patrick’s Day Centerpiece cost me only $4! Yeah that’s right, just $4. And if you already have some of the supplies lying around the house then it won’t even cost you that much. Everything I got came from the Dollar Tree where I found some pretty awesome finds. Check out my Dollar Tree Haul that I shared earlier this week.

Supplies:

I found these white carnations dipped in green at the Dollar Tree as I mentioned before and only had to use one grouping for my centerpiece.

Using wire cutters, trim each stem at the bottom to separate the grouping. Continue to trim any extra at the bottom for the correct height you want if needed.

Once they are all trimmed arrange them the way you like and place them in the center of the pot.

While still holding the flowers in one hand, place the river rocks into the pot around the flowers until close to the top. The stones will help to keep the flowers from falling over and keeping the arrangement you want.

Then place the plastic gold coins on the top of the stones to completely cover them. Using the stones keeps you from having to buy multiple packs of coins to fill the pot. Plus the coins wouldn’t even be seen then and would be a waste.

Place your centerpiece on a kitchen table, coffee table, or wherever you find best. Now that’s all there was to it.

Decorating for a holiday doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant. A $4 centerpiece is still adorable and totally doable.

Enjoy this simple craft and being able to celebrate a holiday! Don’t forget to wear green too!
