Simple Gold Bunny Spring Decor

Let me just say first of all that I love Easter and the meaning behind it all. What a blessing to know that Jesus has RISEN and is alive forever! I hope to never forget the true meaning, although I do love all the fun stuff that comes with holidays too.

This year for Easter, I wanted the decorations I used to be timeless, classic, and simple but yet fun at the same time. My simple gold bunny Easter décor has definitely accomplished just that. You are going to love how easy and quick this idea is to make too.

Simple Gold Bunny Spring Décor

Simple Gold Bunny Spring Decor

Don’t get me wrong. I love color! But sometimes going with simple and classic is the best way. I have found that not going too over the top leaves such a big statement.

That’s exactly what I wanted to do with these precious bunnies when I found them on clearance last year at Michaels. I knew they would be adorable this year. Plus I can use them year after year because they will match with just about anything.

Supplies:

Now are you ready to go from simple to glamorous…Let’s get going!

Spray paint the bunny until it is completely covered and let dry. You may have to spray another coat so just check for any places you may have missed.

Simple Gold Bunny Spring Decor

Hot glue a white pom pom to the back of the bunny for the bunny tail.

Simple Gold Bunny Spring Decor

Now wait for it…That’s it! Can you believe how simple that was, but still so very pretty? Mind officially blown. Plus I just love that little cottontail.

Simple Gold Bunny Spring Decor

Place them throughout your house or maybe even on your front porch. I have a white bird’s cage that I fill with speckled artificial eggs for a simple touch of color. These bunnies are perfect paired with it for the slightest touch of color.

Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes

The beautiful Spring-like weather we have had lately is getting me so excited and ready for all the fun that it brings. There is something truly therapeutic about getting outside after all the snow to breath in the fresh air and let the warm sun hit your skin.

With Spring brings Easter, another favorite holiday of mine. An Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes is the perfect thing to get your kids excited and the perfect opportunity for you to teach them about the true meaning of this blessed holiday.

Easter Countdown

Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes

Your kids are going to love getting a head start filling up their Easter baskets this year with all the fun goodies they find each day tucked inside each treat box. I found these treat boxes at our local dollar store and couldn’t wait to get started. They make for the cutest garland which is a win-win for the kids and for you.

What you will need:

Easter Countdown with Treat BoxesThe Easter grass also came from the Dollar Tree which I used to fill each treat box like an Easter basket and to also keep the toy or small candy tucked away nicely. You could also use paper shreds in each box. Each box could also have an Easter egg in them with a fun surprise.

Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes

Place a sticker number on each box. I used scrapbook stickers that I had on hand that matched perfectly.

Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes

I used 4 boxes of each pattern box I had bought for a total of 8 days for the countdown. Feel free to make as many as you like and then start on the corresponding day of opening and enjoying the sweet surprises.

Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes

Place a ribbon or bakers twine through the tops of all the boxes in order to hang it up and display them.

Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes

Once they open each day, your kids can leave the boxes open in order to know where they left off with. They should also be able to open them while they are still hanging.

Easter Countdown with Treat Boxes

Your kids can look forward to this special holiday by opening a new treat every day. I have always loved countdowns because they get a certain anticipation stirring in the air which is always a good thing.

Get your kids EXCITED about Easter and share with them the true meaning of it all with this Easter Countdown. They will look forward to opening each day's surprise. Get all the details now.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, which happens to be one of my favorite holidays after Christmas of course. I am a total sucker for the “market driven” holiday that most people feel is a rip off to get you to buy flowers and boxes of chocolate. I can’t help it.

If you are the same way, then you know how fun it is to give the loved ones and special people in your life a small token or valentine to show them how much you care. I myself love seeing the cute little notes with their clever sayings too.

I have a fun idea for you today too for those in your life that maybe don’t have a sweet tooth (I wouldn’t know how that feels) or just don’t prefer candy.

FREE Valentine Card Printable: Perfect for Men

You Always Go the Extra Mile Printable Valentines

You have first got to head over to CVS to check out these new 35 stick packages of Extra® Gum Spearmint and Extra® Gum Polar Ice® that you can find at the checkout counter. Everyone can enjoy a pack of gum no matter who you are.

You Always Go the Extra Mile Printable Valentines

You can even print a coupon for $1.00 off.

While you are there, be sure to pick up an extra pack or 2 for yourself. Because they come with 35 sticks, now you never have to worry about running out when you pull out the gum in your office and it gets passed around. There is definitely more to go around so why not Give Extra, Get Extra.

The packaging is a plastic case basically that is much more durable and from recycled material making it easy to store it in your purse, your desk, or even your car without worrying that it will get damaged.

Now that you have your gum, you will need a clear treat bag, hole punch, some bakers twine or ribbon, and some paper confetti or grass.

Place the confetti or paper grass in the bottom of the treat bag first and then add the pack of gum.

You Always Go the Extra Mile Printable Valentines

Tie the bag closed with bakers twine or ribbon and attach this free Valentine tag printable that you can print HERE.

You Always Go the Extra Mile Printable Valentines

This is a perfect way to say thank you to just about anyone especially your co-workers or even the men in your life. You spend the most time with him or her probably more than anyone else. Why not let them know how much you appreciate their help everyday.

You Always Go the Extra Mile Printable Valentines

Another option is to just tie the printable tag to the case using bakers twine.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

Can I get a cheer for the Target dollar spot? I say it all the time, but it is absolutely one of my most favorite spots to shop. It seems like I can’t leave Target without finding something adorable for only $1. Who just doesn’t love Target anyways? Not anyone that I know.

Sometimes I will find things in the dollar spot at Target that I really absolutely love, but I’m not really sure how I will use them at the time. I have learned to go ahead and buy them at that very moment instead of deciding later and coming back. Majority of the time, they are already sold out when I go back. And the worst case is I don’t end up using it, and it only cost me $1 (which usually never happens).

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

I shared on Instagram earlier this week a sneak peek of this cute felt Valentine envelope that I found in the dollar spot. They had them last year, and I made the mistake of not getting it then. This year I had learned my lesson and couldn’t wait to take it to the next level.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

A framed Valentines letter holder is the sweetest way to leave little love notes and surprises for your kids and special someone throughout the whole month of February. I have done 14 Days of Valentines for Mark in the past, and this would be the perfect way to give them to him each day.

Let’s get started with the supplies you will need:

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

You are going to want to cover the inside backing of the frame with scrapbook paper. First measure and cut your paper to the correct measurement before painting the frame and then just sit the paper aside for later.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

Paint your frame with either spray paint or acrylic paint using a foam brush. Spray paint would have worked easier, but I really wanted to use this bright pink color so I stuck with what I already had and made it work. I did paint about 3 coats to cover the wood completely.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

While I was waiting for the paint to dry between layers, I started working on the flag for the “mailbox” letter carrier envelope. I thought adding a little flag to let someone special know when there is a delivery would add that extra touch.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

You can see in the picture above that I started out with a small piece of aqua scrapbook paper that I was going to use for the flag. I changed my mind later and used a Project Life card I had with an aqua chevron pattern that worked perfectly.

I cut the card down to look like a flag and then placed it on the back on the envelope to know where to cut a hole to attach it. I made a hole in the bottom of the flag with the hole punch.

I then cut a small hole in the felt envelope and attached the flag to the envelope using the metal brad. Mine just happened to be pink which no one will ever see, but at least I know it matches.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

You can add a heart to the flag just for an extra touch if you have one. This foam sticker worked perfectly. (The picture above shows a smaller heart that I planned to use, but of course Mac my chocolate lab thought it looked pretty appetizing and that was the end of that.)

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

Once the frame has dried, attach the scrapbook paper to the inside backing of the frame using scrapbook adhesive or a glue gun.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

I then attached the felt envelope to the backing of the frame using a glue gun and waited for it to dry.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

Once everything dried, I hung it up and got busy writing some love letters to fill it up with.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

It is probably one of my most favorite Valentines decorations I have made. The envelope with the bright colors and the black and white chevron pattern in the background is so adorable.

The Most Adorable Valentines Letter Holder

What I also love is that this project really only cost me a little over a $1. I paid a $1 for the envelope and just coins for the frame at a yard sale last year. All the other supplies, I already had on hand. Get creative and challenge yourself to make something great with what you already have to save you money at the same time.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!! Let me know in the comments below what you latest Target dollar spot find is. I would love to know and go look for myself too. Let me know too if you find these envelopes. Another great idea would be to personalize them for each of your kids.

Leave a special note for someone special with this framed Valentines letter holder. It even comes with a mail flag so they know when to open. Get all the DIY details at thesoutherncouture.com.

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. I pinky promise. #SendHallmark #CollectiveBias

Yes, it may be the week of Christmas which means next week you will probably start taking down all your Christmas decorations. But if that depresses you just a little bit like it does me, then you will be happy for today’s post just in time before the clean-up starts.

Be sure you don’t throw away any of the Christmas cards you may have received in the mail this year. Reuse them in the most beautiful way with your own wall art next year. It’s the perfect way to cherish those cards you received and the people who sent them.

UPCYCLED CHRISTMAS CARDS TO FRAMED WALL ART

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

Christmas in my house growing up was never the same without Hallmark. It really is true. My Mom always gave us Hallmark cards no matter what the occasion and always bought us our own Hallmark ornament every year to hang on our tree. I continue to hang those same ornaments on my own tree now.

Instead of packing all those Hallmark cards into a keepsake box, I love that they can be turned into beautiful wall art. All you need are a couple of frames and some tape along with your Hallmark cards of course.

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

I got these 5” X 7” frames at the dollar store making this Christmas decoration extremely budget friendly. I can also change out the cards throughout the year depending on the season or occasion.

Remove the back of the frame and place the card inside. I placed 2 small pieces of tape on the back to keep the card in place as well.

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

Replace the back and then hang your frames for the perfect décor. Most people think that decorating for Christmas is just too expensive. There are no more excuses with this idea that literally only cost a few dollars.

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

I added a pom pom garland made with bakers twine that I made last year for a little extra pop of color.

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

I found this collection of cards at Walmart which gave the perfect look I wanted. If you are wanting a certain design or colors for your art, be sure to check out Hallmark cards.

They are always gorgeous. Plus when you send them to someone you love, they will know just how much you care and are thinking about them.

You can even find a coupon hanging in the card section to get $2 off a 3 card purchase.

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

Now while I was shopping for my Christmas cards this year, I ran upon Hallmark ornaments. I just couldn’t leave without buying 1, 2, okay maybe 4 actually especially after my Mom started this tradition when we were kids.

Upcycled Christmas Cards to Framed Wall Art

Christmas may soon be over, but you can get a jump start on next year’s decorations NOW with your Christmas cards and framed art for next year.

Don't just store away your old Christmas cards you get in the mail. Upcycle them into framed wall art. You can cherish the people who sent them and the card year after year. Get all the details at thesoutherncouture.com and tips for how to make it as inexpensive as possible.

Check out how others are cherishing their Christmas this year with Hallmark HERE. Also let me know what fun traditions your family has every holiday in the comments below. I love finding new traditions to start too.

While you’re wrapping presents this year, be sure to put on that Christmas music. Hallmark has all their favorite for you to listen to as well with this Pandora station.

You can also enjoy this savings as well. Click here to save $1.00 off of a two Hallmark Greeting Card purchase at Walmart, minimum $1.00 purchase required. Take advantage of the savings and #SendHallmark this holiday season!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. I pinky promise. #HolidayWithGlade #CollectiveBias

Cherish the present…This is one phrase that I have really tried to live by this last year especially. I have really learned that life is truly short and should never be taken for granted. We should cherish the present and where we are in our lives right now.

This is especially true when it comes to Christmas and the holidays. If we don’t live for the moment we are in, then before we know it Christmas will have come and gone.

What keeps me appreciating the magic of Christmas is the smell of fresh apple pie baking in the oven. But now I don’t have to worry about slaving over the oven baking all day. Thanks to Glade®, all I have to do is light my SEND A LITTLE LOVE™ Vanilla Biscotti™ Jar Candle, and I am good to go.

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

Candles have always been a big part of my life since my parents always seemed to have a candle lit when I was growing up. I can’t help but keep that same tradition in my house as well. You can find all the Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection fragrances at Kroger to keep your home fragrant with the scents of the season.

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa I also picked up the Glade® Wax Melts Warmer and Wax Melts in the CHERISH THE PRESENT™ Apple Cinnamon scent, which happens to be my favorite. I absolutely love the wax melts because you can change the fragrance as often as you like.

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

With all the great Glade® scents in my house, I just can’t help but get myself in the kitchen. What is Christmas without baking and cooking? I have the most delicious recipe for you to enjoy Christmas Eve night especially after your kids set out this frosted milk and cookies for Santa. You have to drink it so your kids know Santa came, right?

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Ice
  • ½ tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla creamer
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • Pinch of Cinnamon
  • Whipped cream

Place the milk, ice, sugar, vanilla creamer, vanilla extract and a pinch of cinnamon into a food processor until blended well together and ice is completely crushed.

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

Pour into a glass jar and serve with whipped cream and a couple sprinkles of cinnamon on top. Place a paper straw inside and set the glass with a plate full of cookies ready for Santa to enjoy.

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

This frosted milk is delicious to enjoy anytime, especially for your kids so they don’t have to drink the coffee and caffeine of normal blended ice beverages.

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

All you need now is to light a wonderful smelling jar candle from Glade® to help you cherish the present and give thanks for this wonderful season while also enjoying some frosted milk and cookies for yourself.. Go ahead and get a blanket and a good Christmas movie and you are all set. At least you would be at my house for sure.

Frosted Milk & Cookies for Santa

The Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection includes several scents such as BE AT PEACE™, which smells of Balsam Fir and Juniper, and SHARE THE SPIRIT™, which is a lovely Pomegranate Sparkler™ scent. Let me know in the comments below what fragrance you would love to try.

This frosted milk recipe will be the perfect surprise for Santa Claus this year to change his snack up a little bit. (Plus you may just enjoy it yourself too anyways.) Get the full recipe and idea at thesoutherncouture.com. Your kids can even help make it to leave for Santa Claus themselves.

Do you ever have the best intentions to do something really nice and neat, but then things come up and you just don’t know where the time went? Well that’s exactly what happened with my Christmas Home Tour.

I had every intention of having all of you into my home (Of course through the internet) to show you my Christmas decorations and something just magically happened. The Home Tour didn’t happen so please forgive me. I am still going to share pictures below of different areas in my house and my decorations. I just wish you could have seen them sooner. Merry Christmas!!!!

Most of these items I had already laying around the house and were found on clearance. Christmas decorating doesn’t have to break the bank.

My Not So Christmas Home TourI also hand lettered this Hot Cocoa sign to hang above made by spray painting the glass with chalkboard spray paint and placing back inside the frame that I painted with white spray paint.

Chalk markers are now my favorite.

My Not So Christmas Home TourKitchen Table

I love this red and white stripe table runner that I got at TJ Maxx for about $7. I placed the Christmas spode napkin holder and salt and pepper shakers on each side of a white cake plate. I ran a red ribbon through the holes of the platter making it perfect for Christmas. The tree was found at Michael’s last year on clearance for $3.

My Not So Christmas Home TourCeramic Christmas Tree

This tree was made by my very talented Aunt Sharon. It has such a special place in my heart because my Mom made one just like it but larger when my parents were dating. They still have it and put it up every year. I used to place the colored lights in each hole when I was little and looked forward to it so much.

My Not So Christmas Home Tour

My Mom found this lantern in the Christmas section at Target I think but knew I would love it for any time of year. I added a few tree trimmings for the perfect Christmas touch. Beside it is sitting a framed photo of me and Mark at one of our Christmas’ when we were dating.

My Not So Christmas Home TourPorch Decorations

On the side porch, I placed this simple silver tree for an extra shimmer that I found one year after Christmas on clearance once again at Target. Can you tell I love Target by now?

My Not So Christmas Home Tour

To continue with the tree trimmings that smell amazing by the way, I thought a few tree trunks cut into small sections with tree trimmings placed in them would be the perfect centerpiece. I actually just went to a Christmas tree farm and asked for some of the excess trimmings. They were more than happy to give them to me. I even saw several of the trunks in different sizes lying there as well and grabbed them. They had holes already drilled in them as well making it even better.

Memory Lane Christmas Gift Basket

Gift baskets are the perfect way to do so for Christmas or any time of year really! This Christmas I am giving my husband a “gift basket” filled with one of his favorite fragrances, Nautica Blue. He has loved this fragrance for many years. For me just the smell of it brings back so many memories from when we were dating.

The set I chose came with the cologne spray and also a body spray. I know the body spray will come in handy to use whenever he needs a little refresher or to leave in his work bag for on-the-go.

But no gift basket, is complete without adding a few other goodies inside.

Think outside the box for this one. If you are giving your husband or father a gift basket, think about using something for the basket that they can actually use. I used a tool box for my husband. You could also use a work bucket, laptop bag, etc. depending on their hobbies or interest.

I then filled it with different tools that I knew he would like and could use such as a tape measure, hammer, screwdrivers, etc. The great thing too about this bag is that he can leave it in his car or office and have all he needs there as well.

Then finish it off with some tissue to fill in any holes and add some color. Tie on a pretty Christmas tag and you are ready to go. Not only will they find it useful, but it will also take them on a stroll down memory lane Christmas morning.

I found the Nautica Blue fragrance gift set at CVS. They also had several other gift sets and fragrances to choose from for just about anybody on your Christmas list. They are also much more affordable than department stores which makes me happy!

Everyone you know loves to smell good (at least I hope so!) which makes this “gift basket” idea perfect no matter who is on your list. Make their Christmas special with a gift that is truly put together for them alone.
