Crafty time…there is nothing quite like it when I need some time for myself to just enjoy creating. Well I knew I just had to create some fun craft projects to remember my time during the Encamped Study. (Check out more about the study HERE.)

Craft Projects Inspired by Encamped Study

One my most favorite is this felt pennant! We have two troops for Encamped for which I am part of the Troop Sonshine. I wanted to display and show my team spirit with this pennant. I used my Cricut Maker to cut out the felt and then glued the pieces together. If you would like to make your own, CLICK HERE for the cut file in Design Space and even customize for whichever troop you are on. (If you don’t have a Cricut Maker, you could also use a pennant template and cut it out yourself.)

I don’t know if you have seen all the rave with the clay bead bracelets, but I am now obsessed with making my own. I knew I had to make one to remember this study with. Now every time I wear these, I am reminded to pray for the ladies of both Troop Sonshine and Troop Godbow. They are so simple to make and can be personalized for anyone.

Craft Projects Inspired by Encamped Study

To mark pages in my One Step Closer Bible with scripture that really spoke to me heart throughout the study, I made my own paperclips using the badges from the printables Leah designed. I love how they hang down on the page as a fun reminder of this time in the Encamped study. I laminated them using packing tape and just used washi tape to attach them to the paperclip.

Craft Projects Inspired by Encamped Study

Another simple and fun DIY is to make fabric bow clips. I got a pack of fabric at Michaels that had the perfect assortment with sunshines, rainbows, confetti, and more. These will be perfect for going in my journaling Bible.

Check out the video below to see all these crafts in more detail as I walk through how to make your very own during this special study.

Planners, and especially paper planners, are one of my most favorite things. I love to not only keep my days scheduled and organized but also have a place to write down daily memories. It can be anything from the most ordinary happenings of my day to something very exciting and memorable that took place.

Documenting Daily Memories Using a Planner

I started using DaySpring’s Studio 71 line of devotional planners last year, and I’m obsessed with them. I can’t wait to use this new one too. Each month has its own devotional which is so unique for a planner.

Check out the video below as I flip-through the planner sharing all its features as well as some ideas for using yours for memory keeping.

Along with a monthly view, the weekly view is my favorite part. Each day has two columns. I plan to use one side for keeping home and blog organized. Then on the opposite side, I want to write down a few memories of what happened that day whether big or small. I may even write down my favorite memories of the day of things my little guy did or said.

Unboxing Cricut Joy and DIY Greeting Card Tutorial

You can carry it from room to room and no longer have to have a designated craft room or crafting space. I’m even thinking of craft parties with all your friends. Just pack it up to take to a friend’s house and start crafting. You can craft a project in less than 15 minutes either using a cutting mat or no mat.

Unboxing Cricut Joy and DIY Greeting Card Tutorial

Now if you are thinking you already have a Cricut cutting machine, why the Cricut Joy too? Well great question. First of all, more crafting fun so why not?! But in all seriousness, this machine can now create more projects with long cuts that no other machine can make. Their new smart vinyl allows cuts up to 20′. Plus simple projects are even quicker and easier with its compact size. Also check out the matching tool sets to make your crafting even easier.

I can’t wait to share this beauty up close and in more detail. Check out the unboxing video below for all its features and also make a greeting card with me using Cricut’s blank insert card sets.

For this DIY card, I’m using the insert card packs from Cricut and the CardMat. I picked several different designs from Design Space and made a variety of cards. They have so many ready to make projects specifically designed for the Cricut Joy which makes it even easier to create.

Open the card and place it under the plastic flap on the cardmat to protect the back of the card from being cut. Always make sure to align the card to the top left corner for a precise cut.

Then follow the prompts through Cricut’s Design Space for loading the mat into the Cricut Joy. Design Space makes it so easy to create projects with so many just waiting for you.

Next I removed the card from the cutting mat. You may use the tools mentioned above to help with any negative cuts that try to stay behind. The tools also help with cleaning the mat of the negative cuts too.

To finish off the card, pick a color insert card from the card pack and place it behind the cover of the card using the cut notches in each corner. You can adhere it in place using an adhesive runner if you want to but you don’t have to.

Christmas is just right around the corner and we all want to get some of that shopping done early before the craziness really starts to set in. Today is the day to mark off some people on your list or maybe even find a few fun things for Santa to bring you too. I’m sharing my Top 10 Favorite Cricut Products that are perfect for beginners who just got a machine, have learned a few basics, or even the crafter who has never used a Cricut machine. Let’s go Christmas shopping!

Cricut Gift Guide for Beginners and Crafters of All Ages

I have more details about each item below and I’m also showing them in more up close detail in my latest video. Hope these are helpful!

Cricut Maker

10 Things I Love about My Cricut Maker

This crafting machine is a MUST. Whether you have never used a Cricut machine or want an upgrade from an older machine, go for the Cricut Maker!! Trust me. Most Cricut machines are known for cutting, but this one does so much more that I call it the crafting machine instead.

You can cut over 300 different materials including fabric, paper, leather, and even chipboard. They even have a set of QuickSwap tools that allow you to deboss, engrave, perforate, score, and more. And for those who want to craft even more, you can use the Fast Mode for 2x faster cutting and writing.

Machine Mats

Make a Leather Memory Flip Book Using Cricut Maker

Before you can cut out or craft any material, you must have a machine mat to place the material on. Sounds like a no brainer huh? What’s really cool though is that Cricut has several different kinds with LightGrip, StrongGrip, and FabricGrip too depending if you are cutting fabric, leather, paper, etc.

Iron-On Vinyl

Make Coordinating Mommy and Son Shirts using Cricut and New Patterned Iron On

Once you have a Maker, you are going to want to try out iron-on vinyl first. It has to be my most favorite material to craft with because I love being able to personalize just about anything now. Cricut also offers glitter iron-on, mesh, sportflex, foil, and so much more. I made these customized baseball t-shirts for our family and love how they turned out. Plus it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg to have them made specially somewhere else.

Essential Tool Set

10 Things I Love about My Cricut Maker

When working on any project, you have to have the right tools or you will just about pull all your hair out. This tool set has the basics and more to get you going. I love the weeding tool to make using iron-on vinyl a breeze. The spatula is one I grab for constantly when removing material from the cutting mat. And don’t even get me started on these scissors. The quality and sharpness is superb. Below is the tool set made especially for those who love to sew.

BrightPad

Halloween Party Candy Table using Cricut Maker

I’ve mentioned iron-on vinyl and a weeding tool, but now you must meet the BrightPad. Don’t even worry about having to weed the most intricate cuts with iron-on vinyl, because the BrightPad makes it super easy. The LED light has 5 brightness settings so you can also use it for tracing or anything else that would cause eye strain.

Cricut EasyPress 2 and EasyPress Mini

Nursery Embroidery Hoop Decor Made in 10 Minutes with the Cricut EasyPress 2Once you have a Maker and the iron-on vinyl, you are going to want the EasyPress2 or EasyPress Mini to make your life so much easier. I love customizing t-shirts more than anything and love how easy it is now. You get professional heat transfer results without any guesswork thanks to Cricut’s online settings guide. There is even temperature control up to 400 degrees F.

Cricut Pens

Will I be Required to Use Cartridges with the Cricut?

I love that the Cricut machines can even write for you. You can have your own customized stationary, invitations, labels, and more. They also have a ton of colors and variety packs to choose from. They also come in all different point sizes depending on the look you want. I’ve also been known to use these pens for just jotting down notes or in my planner. I love them that much.

Iron-On Designs

If you want to give the gift that takes out all the stress of crafting, then Cricut’s iron-on designs are perfect. For someone that is a little timid to start with the Maker but wants a fun project, you can’t go wrong with these designs. Bundle them with the EasyPress 2 and you are all set. All they have to do is iron them onto a shirt, bag, or whatever their heart desires.

Another beginner material that is really fun to work with to customize a mug, home decor, and more is vinyl. You can really do so many things with it and keep coming up with new ideas. Layer different colors for even more fun. Try out the patterned vinyls for a fun project too.

I love having a handmade gift that is more personal than just picking up a random gift card. These towels are perfect for teachers, coworkers, neighbors, and more. I have special women in my life that love spending time in the kitchen and cooking for their families. I thought these would be great for them to see when doing just that.

Plus it’s like two gifts in one with this leather engraved gift tag that can also be used as an ornament on their tree each year. I used the Maker QuickSwap tools with the engraving tip which made it easy peasy. I can’t even believe the Maker can cut out leather and over 300 other materials.

10 Things I Love about My Cricut Maker

Check out the video below to see a little bit more in detail and up close how it all came together.

Along with the kitchen towels, I’m using Cricut’s iron-on designs which take most of the work out of it for me. I also used their everyday iron-on, leather sheets, and deluxe paper

With the iron-on designs, think outside the box when using them. You don’t have to use them as a whole design, but instead you can cut them up and use them how you like. You can also get more bang for your buck this way to make more towels.

I layed out the towels and iron-on designs to get an idea of how I wanted them to look. Then I measured for the monogram iron-on and cut it out using the Cricut Maker. Be sure to mirror your design in Design Space when using iron-on.

I used the EasyPress 2 to iron everything on and used the EasyPress mat underneath to protect my work surface.

I love these new QuickSwap tools for the Maker because now I can make just about anything with them. I loved being able to engrave these Christmas trees with the engraving tip while it also cut out the leather to make these gift tags.

I used a sharp crafting tool to make a hole through the leather ornament and scrapbook paper to add the twine for the gift tag. You could also have the Cricut cut out a small circle at the top of each one. Add the recipient’s name to the paper candy cane too.

Tie some ribbon around your towels and attach the candy cane tags. Then they can hang the candy cane ornaments on their tree once they have opened it.
