Candy Cane Swirl Double Layer Fudge 12

Fudge is one of my most favorite desserts to make and give to others but this Christmas fudge with a candy cane swirl topping is even more special this time of year. If you can’t tell already from my Day 2 of this Christmas series with a peppermint sugar scrub, I love peppermint! Plus I don’t know what kid doesn’t love getting a candy cane from Santa Claus at the mall every year.

This fudge recipe is easy to make with only a few ingredients and looks even better with a candy cane swirl on top. I love desserts that are also just as beautiful as they are tasty.

And if you have kids, they would love to help decorate the fudge at the end too. I still to this day have great memories of baking in the kitchen with my mother and how much fun we had. Now let’s get to baking!

Ingredients:

2 cups chocolate chips- My husband and I love dark chocolate but the choice is yours and your preference in taste.

1 can sweetened condensed milk divided into 2/3 and 1/3 separately

¼ cup butter divided in half

1 cup white chocolate chips

Red food coloring

Crushed candy canes

First line a square baking pan with aluminum foil and leave some extra to hang over the sides to use to easily remove the fudge from the pan. Grease the pain to keep the fudge from sticking. I use spray oil because it is so easy and an 8″ x 8″ pan.

In a saucepan, combine the 2 cups chocolate chips, 2/3 can sweetened condensed milk, and 1/8 cup butter.

Melt on low-medium heat until completely melted being sure to stir continuously to keep the chocolate from burning. You may also use a double boiler to help to keep the chocolate form burning when melting it.

Once all the chocolate is melted and the ingredients are combined, pour into the greased pan and let sit.

Next you will make the white chocolate layer the same as you did above. Combine the white chocolate chips, 1/3 can sweetened condensed milk, and 1/8 cup butter in a saucepan. Melt on low-medium heat until completely melted being sure to stir continuously to keep the chocolate from burning.

Once the chocolate is again completely melted and the ingredients are combined, pour it on top of the chocolate layer already in the pan.

Now you must work a little more quickly before the white chocolate fudge is set.

Drop several drops of red food coloring randomly on the top of the fudge. Using a toothpick, swirl the food coloring throughout the top.

Then sprinkle the crushed candy cane pieces to top it all off.

Let it completely set before removing from the pan. Once it has remove the fudge from the pan using the foil. Cut the fudge into squares and you now have Christmas fudge. Forget leaving cookies for Santa this year. Leave this fudge with a big glass of milk and you are sure to get what you wish for instead of that lump of coal.

I love putting the fudge in paper boxes to give away at Christmas parties, take to a party, or even for a hostess gift. I am sure your co-workers would also love having fudge to snack on throughout the day.
