Today I’m preparing for Lent with study ideas for y’all too using two different studies from Illustrated Faith. I also share a fun mixed medium tutorial using texture paste.

For this year, I’m beyond excited to study through Lent with some pretty amazing resources thanks to Illustrated Faith. I am using the Beloved Society Names of Jesus tags and Brianna Showalter’s Thy Kingdom Come card set. Make sure to grab yours too so we can work through them together.
I love doing daily projects like this one with memorydex cards and flip album, but in order to not feel overwhelmed I have to do several things ahead of time to prepare. For starters, I like to have most of the artistic and creative touches set-up beforehand. That way if I don’t have time one day to pull out the craft supplies, I still can read the scripture and study which is the focus.
Next, I keep it simple! Don’t try to do too much and set yourself up for failure. I don’t plan to do a Bible journaling entry for every single day of both studies. There is just no way. Simple is best!
Last, I keep a small basket with a few coordinating supplies in one spot to make it easy to access.
Now if you’re ready to get to the fun, let’s flip through my little projects and hopefully you will get some ideas for working through your Lent study too.
For the Beloved Society set, I started by using my Cricut Maker to cut out chipboard in the shape of the tag. If you have a Cricut Maker, you can click HERE for the cut file in Design Space and make yours too. If you don’t have a Maker, you could also use posterboard or something thick for the covers. Then I had fun layering colors of acrylic paint to the cover that matched the tags. Then I used some metallic texture paste from Heidi Swapp and the Maggie Holmes stencil set that came as a bundle from Illustrated Faith with the Beloved Society tags. I’m obsessed with how it turned out.
For the Thy Kingdom Come set, I am using a memory card system from WhipperSnapperCreates. I punched all the cards with my Heidi Swapp memorydex punch and then added embellishments to each card.
I am thrilled with how everything turned out and can’t wait to dive into the scripture and study each day. What’s even better is that now I have all the prep done and don’t have to feel overwhelmed everyday. Below are a few more pictures of different tags and cards to give you some ideas for making your own.
I would love to know what you are planning on doing for Lent. If you make your own set-up similar to mine, make sure to tag me on social media so I can see them too. God bless!

Hi Bethany, I really enjoyed how you are working on the Lent sets. You gave me lots of ideas. I am going to make my cover for both sets with clear plastic from kitchen cutting mats I get at the Dollar Tree Store. They also work well when you are working with paint to keep pages and tables clean.

Thank you so much for the sweet words. I’m so glad it was helpful. That is such a good idea too. I love the idea of using them to protect your work surface from paint.
