My planner means absolutely everything to me to help me stay organized. I definitely am one of those people that needs a central place to house everything so I donโt forget. I have some pretty fun ways to show you how to use washi tape, page flags, and sticky notes in your planner to keep you organized. (Please tell me Iโm not the only organization fanatic out there.)
But firstโฆBe sure to check out my post earlier this week that lets you in on the 411 of how to still have a gorgeous planner without breaking the bank. And yes, it can be done! Your husband will thank you later for it too.
PLANNER ORGANIZATION
Washi Tape
Washi tape without a doubt is still one of my most favorite craft supplies. It can be used to do just about anything. Plus who doesnโt love all the gorgeous colors and designs you can find. The possibilities really seem to be endless.
I have found that using washi tape is the perfect way to keep everything in our hectic lives separate and organized.
Start by designating one color or design of washi tape for each area of your life or maybe for each child you have. Place a key to show what each color stands for in the back of your planner on one of the extra note pages. I made my key on a separate Project Life card and then attached it in the back with washi tape in case I needed to change any of the colors in the future.
I usually organize mine with church, family, appointments, blog, bills, etc. I have even used the washi tape for the month view and a colored pen for the weekly view so it doesnโt become too full with the tape.
Then when you are planning your month or week ahead of time, you can use the designated color to keep events separate. For example, your oldest child may have a dentist appointment on Thursday, so you would use their color by cutting a piece of tape and placing it on that day. Then you can write over the top of the tape the dentist appointment.
And whatโs even better is that if the appointment needs to change, the washi tape can be removed easily without tearing the page.
Feel free to use washi tape to add some extra color and decoration as well instead of the same boring calendar. Make organizing fun.
Page flags
Another fun way to keep different areas of your life organized is with page flags. You can find basic page flags in any office store. But now more and more stores are selling paper flags in all different colors and designs.
My favorite place to look for these in the past has been at Target in the dollar spot. You can also make your own using scrapbook paper in any design you like.
I love to use these page flags when scheduling blog posts. I will write the post idea on the flag and then place on whatever day I plan to schedule it to go live. If I need to move the post to another day for some reason, the page flag can easily be moved with tearing the page which is similar to washi tape.
Sticky Notes
One flaw that most people find in their planners is that they just donโt always have enough room to write in everything that they have to do that week. That is no longer a problem.
Use sticky notes to add space or realty to your planner. The weekly view in my planner has a space for me to list that weekโs To-Do items and also a shopping list. When that space is full, place a sticky note over the top and keep on adding.
The sticky note can then be removed if itโs your shopping list for example and taken in the store with you. No more worrying about leaving your list at home as long as you have your planner with you.
I also love Project Life cards. I hit the jackpot one day and found 2 large boxes of them at a local discount store for only $5 a box. I can use them just about anywhere you can think of.
These are perfect to add to my pages for more writing space. I just attach it to the page with a piece of washi tape and voila. A lot of the Project Life cards also have inspirational sayings which is always helpful when opening your planner.
Now you have absolutely no excuse to not stay organized. Get out there and make the most of your week with some really pretty organizational tips. A pretty and organized planner always make your week feel not so hectic, as least for me it does.

Great practical use of washi. I like it to divide up lists on a single page or mark out unused days on a monthly spread. I’m here from #SaturdaySharefest.
