One of my most favorite things to do when Iโm relaxing around the house is to burn a sweet smelling candle. I must get this from my Dad actually because he always seems to have one burning.
But what happens when you get to the bottom of the candle? There always seems to still be a little bit of wax left that wonโt burn down and that awful and messy black residue. You donโt want to just throw the nice glass jar out. Now you donโt have to. I have the easiest and quickest steps to remove that old wax and residue and have your jar shining in no time. Plus the best part is itโs not even messy either.
You are only going to need a knife, fork, cloth, and Goo Gone. I love using Goo Gone on so many different surfaces to remove all those little bits of junk that are so frustrating.
First start by making cuts in the bottom of the wax cutting the candle in half and then again in fourths. Cut more slits until itโs in eighths. Then take the knife and cut around the entire circumference of the wax to help release it from the edges. *Be careful using a knife.
Then take a fork and use it to start lifting the wax up and remove it from the jar.
Pour some Goo Gone on a cloth and start wiping the glass jar until all the wax and residue has been removed. Also use the Goo Gone to help remove any labels or stickers. The Goo Gone helps take a lot of the work out of it where you donโt have to scrub really hard.
Rinse the candle jar with water and wipe dry.
You now have yourself a crystal clear jar to use for just about anything else. Donโt ever throw out your old candle jars again and feel guilty about not upcycling it. Just be sure to grab some Goo Gone the next time you are shopping.
