I have been enjoying getting crafty again lately and especially when I can incorporate that crafting into my Bible studies. When I work through a particular Bible study or season that means a lot to me, it is always fun to have a crafty project to remember it by. That’s when I decided to create these felt pennants for Encamped and Bible University. I can’t wait to share with y’all how to cut felt with Cricut Maker machines for your own projects.
If you are thinking, “I did not even know the Cricut Maker will cut felt,” then check out more posts HERE to learn all about the Cricut cutting machines. You are going to love making your own crafts like this pennant especially just in time for back to school.
Check out the video below to see how it all came together as well as some tips and tricks for cutting felt with the Cricut Maker machines. Keep reading for screenshots for working through Cricut Design Space to get everything set up.
Below are the steps for cutting felt with either the Cricut Maker or Maker 3.
1. CLICK HERE FOR THE CUT FILE IN DESIGN SPACE. Then click “Customize” to change the letters or phrase and also to resize if desired. If you are working through Bible University and want to make this exact one, then click “Make It.”
2. Be sure your material in DS is set to felt. I also like to select “More” for pressure setting.
3. Place Cricut felt sheet onto cutting mat and follow the prompts on your machine or in DS to load into machine and begin cutting.
4. Once the cut is complete, you are ready to put your pennant together. I used FabricTac to assemble my pieces of felt together. Use the design in DS as a guide to help you with layering the pieces correctly.
And that’s all there is to it!! Using the Cricut Maker machines to cut felt is such a breeze even though many think it sounds intimidating. Below are also some tips and tricks I have found that will help you.
TIPS & TRICKS
- I prefer the felt sheets from Cricut because of their durability and thickness. Other felt sheets may work too but be sure they are adhered strongly to the cutting mat, so they do not peel up when the machine starts to cut.
- I use the StrongGrip cutting mat for felt to be sure the felt was really adhered to the mat due to its thickness.
- The FabricTac glue works for great for many craft projects. I tried using a KrazyGlue for crafts but the felt would just peel off of each other. I hot glue gun would work great too.
- Both the Cricut Maker and Maker 3 machines will cut felt.
Now I have to know what project you would love to make out of felt with your Cricut Maker machine. Design Space also has lots of projects and ideas too. And if you love this pennant or are working through Bible University, click HERE for the cut file to start making yours now.
