Banana Split Ice Cream Party BarโฆI really have to control myself when I even think about ice cream must less an ice cream party on top of it. It is definitely my most favorite thing EVER!
Why not take ice cream to whole other level with a banana split? And yes, even complete with a cherry on top! This party bar was a blast to plan and even more fun to enjoy. This is definitely the perfect party to welcome rising temps and warm sunshine with a cool treat for your kids and neighbors.
BANANA SPLIT ICE CREAM PARTY BAR
I always start with a blank canvas really when Iโm planning a party tablescape and work my way from the foundation which usually starts with a tablecloth. Let me first say that with party decorations, always check around your house to see what you have first before going shopping. You will be amazed at how much you already have at home that is just as perfect.
For my white cloth tablecloth, I folded 2 curtain panels and placed them on the table. I actually bought these from Ikea when I went to college for my apartment and havenโt used them since then.
To add a little โIce Cream Parlorโ flair, I folded sheets of tissue paper in different colors and then rounded the ends attaching them to the front of the table with tape.
Hanging at the back of the table on the porch railing is a string of patio lights with aqua ornamental balls for the lights. I found these in the Target dollar spot and fell in love. The aqua is an extra pop of color but also perfect to use this summer for cook-outs. You can see them hanging in the background behind all the colorful table decorations.
For the main centerpiece, I made my own gigantic ice cream sundae. The ice cream cup is a wired waste basket with tissue pompoms placed inside. I blew up a red balloon just a little to resemble the cherry. For the stem, I cut a black and white polka dotted paper straw in half and taped it to the back of the balloon for the stem. I cut small pieces of colored paper and added them on top of the pompoms for the sprinkles. For more height, I placed it on top of a plain white cake stand that also came from Target.
I added another banana split decoration using smaller tissue pompoms and a decorative metal canister that once again came from Target. To add a little height, I placed it on top of a small metal pail that I turned upside down.
I used another canister and pail to hold the bananas on the opposite side. Behind the bananas is a chalkboard sign that I made using an old picture frame from a yard sale with chalkboard spray paint. Whatโs an ice cream party without singing โI scream, You scream, We all scream for ice cream.โ
On each side of the table were paper loaf pans and paper bowls for guests to choose from along with the ice cream that I placed in a metal bucket. Place a clear plastic bag inside the bucket with ice to keep the ice cream from melting as fast. The bag also keeps any melted ice from leaking onto the table.
In the center of the table is the most fun part. All those delicious toppings. I found these adorable white canisters with miniature spoons at Michaels and knew they would be perfect for sprinkles. You canโt have a banana split without a cherry on top so donโt forgot those either.
Another metal bucket with a plastic bag same as the ice cream held the chocolate, strawberry, and caramel syrup along with the whipped cream. All of this was then placed on a sheet of scrapbook paper which helped to just add some more color to the tablecloth.
As much as I love paper straws, I am starting to find that these decorative wooden utensils are a new favorite of mine. You can find them in so many different colors and designs lately. I knew these from Michaels would be perfect and โdelishโ of course.
Itโs time to dig in, cool down, and enjoy your sweet treat!
So now that you have all the decorations you need, the ice cream, and all the delicious toppings, you are ready to throw the most adorable banana split ice cream party bar this Summer!
As you can see below, I definitely enjoyed myselfโฆAnd no I didnโt eat both of them. One of them was Markโs.
